@KulakMAGAMan @TheBabylonBee Natalie Portman, Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor did not act badly. The CGI is bad by today's standards, but we had never seen anything like the pod race before.

@meadbert @TheBabylonBee Compared to JJ Abrams, yes. Compared to the original Trilogy, no. The 2nd of the trilogy was horrible, just people acting badly to CGI barf for 90% of the film.

@Havoc_XXI @JomboyMedia This is not the batter's fault. I was never taught to swing at that pitch with two strikes. Not even in Little League.

@Oilfield_Rando This can't be correct. I do not believe that North Carolina had net migration out of the state in 2025. I am confident that North Carolina had migration into it. If there has been an exodus from NC I would be shocked.

@iosif_lazaridis Yeah, but one of those would have the lowest area and that would be the unique solution.

@meadbert No there isn't a unique solution because "polygon" is a class of shapes that is not uniquely identified unless one specifies the number of vertices. There is a triangle, quadrangle, ..., k-gon that cover 80% of the points while minimizing land area.

@xwanyex Crime rates collapsed during the great depression and exploded in the 1960s which pretty much proves that a good economy does not produce low crime.

This is how to explain the difference between progressive and conservative views on crime. Is criminality caused by poverty? No, it’s because criminals are stupider than average. Is criminality caused by lack of opportunity? No, it’s because criminals are more impulsive than average. Is criminality caused by a lack of education? No, it’s because criminals score lower in traits like conscientiousness. This doesn’t mean that material conditions can’t make a difference at the margins. Of course you can change the incentives and thereby change behavior. But progressives will always be confused about criminality, because they prefer to believe that every human being is basically the same and only responding to material conditions, but that’s just simply not true. We have mountains of evidence on this. Human beings are not in fact mostly identical. And criminality is associated with a particular set of traits.
eugyppius@eugyppius1

Criminality is tightly associated with traits like low conscientiousness, low intelligence, high time preference, and not having a spare $50 lying around (because if you did you'd spend it all on crack or meth).

On my broadcasts, I set myself the goal of reaching the grandmaster league at the age of 45. It wasn't easy, but we did it. Anything is possible! There will be a stream in the evening.

@ConceptualJames I strongly disagree with not voting. It does not matter if you don't like either candidate. In an election of Stalin v Hitler you vote! They may both be bad, but you can't tell me it does not matter who wins.

@ohaiom @marmadukebj16 @RandyEBarnett What about a tourist? A wealthy Chinese mother vacationing in Disneyland ends up delivering in Anaheim. She then goes back. Her son, who has never taken a step in the US is a US citizen? May we draft him into the armed forces? May we tax his worldwide income?

The debate over “birthright citizenship” gets very abstruse very fast. So, now that the issue will be heard by SCOTUS, it’s useful to keep in mind what is and is not contested. A 🧵 thread:

Using your average income over the last few years as a reference, the next 8 polls will ask how much you’d need to be paid in multiples of that income (added to your other income) to agree to accept one of 8 changes. Assume this change is fast & painless, & that both this change & the added income last for the rest of your life. Assume no other changes than those that clearly result from this change.
