Le SCAF est officiellement enterré. Ce sont des centaines de millions, voire des milliards gâchés dans un projet, à cause de l'orgueil allemand qui refusait que Dassault Aviation - l'industriel du meilleur avion de combat au monde, le Rafale - soit aux manettes. L'Allemagne veut être absolument, dans tous les domaines, supérieure à ses partenaires. Ce n'est pas avec une volonté de domination que l'on construit une Europe équilibrée et forte. Le plus ironique, c'est que les Allemands appellent à une "coopération européenne fondée sur l'égalité", alors qu'ils ne cessent de défendre leurs prérogatives nationales. L'Allemagne a combattu de façon virulente l'industrie nucléaire française, a ouvert pendant des années grand ses portes à la Chine, s'est opposé au plan de relance NGEU et au concept d'autonomie stratégique. Et voilà maintenant qu'elle trahit ses engagements sur le SCAF, qui aurait été une garantie de supériorité aérienne pour l'Europe. Les industriels allemands sont déjà sur les starting blocks pour concevoir leur propre avion.
