Future protective masks will undoubtedly be modular. No large mask manufacturer wants to release more masks when global demand is declining, as this would increase R&D and management costs. If masks can be assembled like computers, then everyone can create their own unique mask.

@Lizzardo77 There seems to be a few cases indeed, but it's the case also of other sports. I have tweeted about many cases in football and cycling for example

"Much better, thank you" Tennis star Emma Raducanu said to feel better, while answering a fan on Instagram, after withdrawing from several tournaments because of a "post-viral illness". It remains unclear if she's playing the upcoming Rome tournament share.google/4FNYEKVAqanuHt…

Thank you, @BerlinBuyers and everyone who helped make this perfectly organized PortaCount fit test event a success! My @DraegerNews FFP2 passed with flying colors, and my beloved @zhouliang_mask KN100 also performed slightly less well—but still achieved excellent scores!

Why did nobody warn you? I can tell you. Late March 2020, I was part of the COVID taskforce of the German Interior Ministry. In our first report from 27 March, we were probably the first in Western countries to warn about long-term sequelae from COVID, based on experience with SARS (2003) and data about COVID from China. We also argued against herd immunity strategy. A few days later, the German government abandoned herd immunity. But we, and I personally, were violently attacked by influential German right-wing media, followed by major mainstream media, including moderate left-wing. A massive defamatory media campaign. My university threatened to fire me (they actually did a few months ago). That's how mainstream media and the academic community silenced those who knew and warned.

The strength of ear loops also decreases with use. Even if we introduce products with replaceable ear loops in the future, it doesn't mean we can extend the lifespan of masks. The biggest concern is the lack of testing methods and equipment. If everyone had access to testing equipment like PortacOUNT, many problems and worries would disappear.

In China's occupational health and safety industry, almost all mask manufacturers advise users to replace masks when the resistance increases, the mask becomes damaged, or it gets dirty. 3M's wearing recommendations are similar. Why are people so concerned about the lifespan of a mask in everyday environments? The Japanese mask standard JIST8151, through long-term testing with high-concentration particulate matter, indicates that a mask's lifespan is typically 15-25 hours. This testing environment (1176ug/m³) is almost impossible to encounter in daily life. I believe everyone should use equipment like PortacOUNT to test new masks and masks after a period of use to find a mask that you deem suitable for its lifespan. At this point, you also need to consider the mask's hygiene and structural strength. Most masks experience a decrease in structural strength after use due to moisture. This factor is far greater than the decrease in the mask's filtration capacity. The lifespan of a mask is longer than you might imagine. What you need to address is finding a mask that is comfortable and suitable for extended wear.
Gerard Hughes ( @ghhughes.bsky.social )@ghhughes

How long can you effectively wear an N95 or similar mask? That comes down to two things: • How long a mask continues to filter well. • How long a mask continues to fit well. As to filtration, respirator manufacturer @zhouliang_mask points to Japan has having the only facemask standard with a specific method of measuring efficacy over time and a target the masks have to meet to pass. reddit.com/r/Mask_World/c… Ultimately zhouliang_mask is unable to give any kind of universal answer to how long you can effectively wear a filtering face mask because of how many variables there are and suggests the only way to know for sure is individual PortaCount testing. At some point I hope that there can be a way built into masks to tell users when they are no longer effective. One company released masks that changed color over time, which was supposed to tell you when to change masks, but it turns out that color change was strictly due to exposure to UV light and didn't really have any correlation to the mask's efficacy. (That and the color changing chemical might not have been the safest thing to be putting on your face.)

@brownecfm My H works in diagnostic cardiology. He says he sees someone with cardiac long covid or “generic” long covid at least once a day & they have no idea. When he goes through the NHS list of LC symptoms they are stunned as they can identify with multiple “unexplained” symptoms….

The replacement filters are now in stock on our website for European customers. I sincerely apologize for the long wait. That said, the shipping and receiving process for this batch took 3.5 months, which is far longer than it should have been.
Adam Wong@Engineer_Wong

We regret to inform you that our 3Pro units and replacement filters have been out of stock in the EU for over a month. A batch was shipped via rail in early January, but unfortunately, it was delayed in Russia for some time. The shipment is now scheduled to arrive at our warehouse in Germany on April 7th. You will be able to order the products on Amazon.de starting from that date, and they will be available on our website around April 14th. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
