@travismsnow I think the thing that’s funny about it is how little Trump actually thinks of people like you while you make these humiliating excuses.

My wife summed up the whole Trump-Jesus meme perfectly: "Trump knows he's being ridiculous." Which is the opposite of someone who is blaspheming or claiming to be Jesus. It's a meme people. It's comedy. Just like you don't interpret the Proverbs in the same way you interpret Apocalyptic Literature, you don't interpret a meme like it's a religious manifesto. Plus, you have to put this, I think, in the context of Trump's argument with Pope Leo. The Pope literally claims to be the Vicar of Christ (i.e., one who acts for and in place of Christ on the earth). Hence Trump, in a cheeky way, is kind of saying, "I'm the real Pope," because he believes his foreign and domestic policies do more to promote health and stability in the real world than the policies of the Pope, who has said we should just have compassion on the Iranian regime and let them get nukes. It's really a jab at the Pope more than anything else. And it's kind of funny too if you can let yourself relax a little bit.

I love the President and I'm so grateful he's in the Oval Office. Of course, I'll continue to support him and the America First agenda. At the end of the day, I do nothing for the approval of man. Our purpose on this earth is to glorify Him in all we do. The truth social post missed the mark. It's now deleted. Amazing! We're imperfect people. I know I am. I don't get my feelings hurt easy and I know with the President it's really not personal. I want to spend eternity in a real place called Heaven. I'd love for Trump to be there too. Some people angry at me in my replies for “defending” Trump have only in the last few months left the Trump Can Do No Wrong Club— a club I’ve never been a part of. I have been extremely consistent in my critique of Trump for 10 years: He’s better than the Democrat alternative, but he says and does things I don’t like. I wish he would have more self-control and discernment. I pray for him to turn to Christ and the wisdom that comes from that to infuse his speech and actions. I am also very thankful for how the Lord has used him to push policies that are good, right, and true. While I’ve never supported him in a primary, I remain so grateful he won and Kamala Harris and Hillary Clinton did not. For me, Trump isn’t strong enough on life and marriage. I think his selection of Paula White is a dangerous error. I’ve articulated these things many times. This is a big reason I have never been considered “MAGA,” though I have voted for him 3 times and have encouraged others to do so. It’s interesting that some of those who have recently renounced their unconditional sycophancy of Trump have never joined me in opposing Trump on issues like taxpayer-funded IVF. Maybe that will change now? We will see. Yeah, I do think Trump is Trump and almost 80 and thus it’s quite possible he quickly posted a meme someone sent him without seeing its clear (to us) his Jesus imagery. That doesn’t make it right. But his excuse is plausible. Won’t apologize for that

It was right and responsible that the President deleted the post. I'm impressed he took responsibility for it, as I doubted—and daresay continue to doubt—that he personally made and posted it. But the buck stops with POTUS, so good on him for taking it down and moving on.

I appreciate President Trump deleting this. This was not appropriate at all. I know that I’d call out a Democrat if they posted anything depicting themselves like this, and I have to be consistent. It’s just not acceptable. I’ll always put my faith first above anything else. I’m glad he’s realized that it was an error to post this and I appreciate him rectifying it.

He’s the President of the United States. The most powerful man in the world juggling international crises, negotiations, and leading the country. He probably posted it on a whim without much thought and meant no harm. I’m glad he took it down once he realized it was a mistake.
