@turbofish_pk @ltrd_ they clearly make money with subs if you want to sync across devices, mobile and desktop. no greed doesn't mean they don't make money. I delved into it in recent weeks, it's really impressive but takes a bit of learning

@ltrd_ If you stick to the basics, Obsidian is great. To me it is unclear how they make money and be able to provide such a nice product for free. For this reason, I avoid all proprietary features and use it mostly to search .md files I edited with other tools.

After working with Obsidian for a couple of days, I would be quite stressed if I were on the Notion team. Five years ago, I used Obsidian and thought it was an app for nerds who love taking notes. Now, with .md files becoming an AI standard, strong integration with Codex, and easy syncing, it feels completely different. I’ll give it a try until the end of Q1 and see how satisfied I am after that period.
