WA Country Hour reporting there may be backpacker shortages for this season - it might be the last thing on your mind right now, but what is your consensus on backpackers? Swear by them or sworn them off?

West Weather Watchers 🌧️⛈️🌞⚡
Now this has got our attention. The next 7-10 days is shaping up to be an interesting day across Northern AU with WA inclusive. We have been looking at this guidance for the last 5-7 days, after there has been much east coast chatter about the formation of the Coral Sea depression. As of today, the 17th, Tropical Low 34U has formed and is tracking west with a high chance of developing into a tropical cyclone this week. Conditions are favourable for 34U to strengthen, and there is increasing confidence that the system will track towards and cross the northern Queensland coast late this week, before continuing into the Gulf of Carpentaria over the weekend. There is now a High chance the system will be a tropical cyclone at the time of landfall. Now, why are we talking about this Coral Sea system? This is due to the multiple ensembles (in particular the longer-range AI) suggesting basically a due Westerly track across the Gulf of Carpentaria, NT and then possibly off the coast of WA as seen here using the Google Deepmind. This westerly track is due to an upper-level ridge to the south of the low holding it up in the westerly track towards the east coast, and then a broader upper-level ridge developing across central AU for the NT westerly track, forcing it across to the WA top end. The majority of the AI and physics-based models are locked into this westerly track across the continent. Once we get to the Western Kimberley however, is where things become uncertain, as you can see with the blown-out cone on the track map. There are however a few environmental conditions that are clear, those being - sea surface temps are definitely conducive to TC development off the Kimberley/Pilbara coast (29-31 degs), model dependant, a broad area of low bulk wind sheer is forecast for that period compared to the mean, and there is bulk instability forecast off the Pilbara coast during that period. We are not entering into cyclone categories as yet. We will have constant updates for the remainder of the week to keep WA informed. Please remember this is a developing system, and a long way out so don't panic, don't panic buy, and follow us to stay data-driven and weather-ready. 📷

In 2019, Coomalbidgup farmer Tihan Giliomee was spending about three hours a day feeding sheep – right in the middle of seeding. He realised the system wasn't working and came up with a plan to automate it. Saving on time, labour and money. farmweekly.com.au/story/9041791/
