Finland is aiming to go carbon neutral in 15 years. They're creating jobs by boosting #renewables and saving trees. Its CO2 emissions have already dropped 21% since 1990s levels. We have the solutions, let's speed it up and implement them. #ActOnClimate #climate #energy #vote

Spain's renewables build-out has structurally decoupled its electricity prices from gas markets. Gas now sets the price in only 15% of hours, compared to 90% in Italy. Countries that invested early in clean power are far less exposed to fossil fuel price shocks.

So here we are in 2026 and we still can't even tie our shoe laces. Could it be because we are trying to do it all alone? Aren't we missing something about how to live a good life at this time? The reason we are failing is because we fail to ask these questions. theguardian.com/environment/20…

Every time I look at it with fresh eyes, it blows my mind that a nation was allowed to do this to human beings while the entire world watched and could not stop this. Like this is inhumane to the point of absurdity. How could this be allowed to go on? & now Lebanon too. Fuck

Imagine thinking that the blood thirsty warmongers who did this to Gaza are "God's chosen people". What an utter perversion of Scripture.

Earth was a paradise until humans decided to turn it into hell Our fragile biosphere the only known place in the Universe to harbor life is being destroyed by humans at ever faster rate and there is no planet B No second Earth This is our home being turned into a graveyard

This war is burning the planet, polluting our air and water. It benefits no one but weapons manufacturers, oil barons, and blood-thirsty zealots.

Summer temperatures in March for much of the US is a thing. And still we have not discussed how to lower surface temperature 🤒 to keep water available for humans and wildlife? 🤳Karsten Haustein

All signs continue to point to an exceptional, long-duration, and record-breaking to (in some cases) record-shattering March heatwave initially centered across U.S. Southwest but expanding to much broader region next week. This is effectively a full-on summer heatwave in March.

Science publishing is broken: -The public pays for scientific research. -Scientists do the research and writing. -Colleagues review the research for free. -Scientific journals paywall most research, withholding it from the public, while raking in crazy profit margins of >30%. 1/

Now we have + 2.8 degrees C (5.0 degrees F) Sea Surface Temperature Anomalies for the date in the eastern equatorial Pacific right at the equator at 93.47 West Longitude. Every day I see another sign pointing to a record Super El Niño later this year and 2027. Behold the exploding marine heatwaves now in the northern Gulf of Mexico, all around Baja spreading up the California coast with a record shattering atmospheric heat wave, off Chile and Peru, throughout the mid South Pacific, the far North Atlantic and many others outside this view. Runaway warming is here. There is no denying it. We must immediately and drastically reduce our greenhouse gas emissions to curtail the worst impacts and to better prepare for ever more frequent and escalating catastrophic events. The path we are currently on leads to virtual human extinction. And much sooner than ever thought possible. IMO by mid century. The sand in the hourglass for us and many other species is running out. ⌛️ h/t John Scheve

It’s all connected! The Kona low/ Flooding in Hawaii, Extreme Heat in the West, the Blizzard in the G Lakes and incoming cold in the East. It’s all due to a highly amp’d pattern.

If we made the green energy transition this war would be unthinkable and these authoritarians wouldn’t be in power — not in the US, not in Iran, not in Saudi Arabia, not in Russia. Hydrocarbons are killing our freedom and just plain killing us.

Scientists project global warming of 1.51 to 1.83°C for the years 2024-29 implying tropical forests and tropical corals are now in a fatal collapse phase. Media? Silent.

BREAKING: global warming hits 1.5-1.7°C * even the most conservative estimates now imply worst-case 1.5-1.7°C for the 2024-28 average * with warming accelerating, conservative IPCC model studies imply extinction catastrophe at 1.8-2.4°C by the 2030s 2.1-3.0°C by the 2040s

Harmful algal blooms. These are a major concern in coastal marine areas and lakes, but sometimes also at high seas. Harmful algal blooms result from a combination of many things and preventive effort is worthwhile: - loss of biodiversity - lack of alternative micro-organisms, fungi, bacteria and viruses fighting for the same nutrients and eating the algae - excess runoff nutrients, eg due to fertilizers, agricultural and forestry, ditches in the wrong places - increased surface water temperatures What other reasons are there for HAB's and what do you consider as best measures to prevent them? coastalscience.noaa.gov/science-areas/…

The more you know ... The Earth has gained the equivalent of about 5.7 *billion* Hiroshima bombs worth of planetary heating since January, 2000. About 89% of that heat went into heating the oceans. The rest to melt ice and snow, heat land and heat the atmosphere.

Wars and the military are a huge emitter of greenhouse gases, air pollution and contamination of soils and water. This of course does not include the life long mental health damage to civilians and armed forces personnel.
