Having a memory is illegal in Britain.
The pre-charge detention for terrorism suspects in the UK was increased from 7 days to 14 days under the Criminal Justice Act 2003.
When that happened, the Conservative Party voted against it for being an overreach of the state.
Tony Blair later wanted to make it 90 days, but was defeated.
But now, the Labour Party will arrest old people for holding placards, label them terrorists, and the right-wing media will cheer them on.

@maybejustmike @AidenTEM This is true - and in that case, I pivot to using an ad-blocking browser (which works for YouTube, but I don't use other streaming sites, so my knowledge there is limited)
English

@adamndsmith @AidenTEM My pihole can't block youtube app ads
The ads come from the same place.
So netflix, prime, disney, youtube all show ads through their apps.
English

You can download a browser that will block every ad on YouTube (and everywhere else) for free.
You can spend £20 on a little device that blocks every ad on your entire wi-fi network, on every laptop, tablet, and phone connected to it.
You do not have to put up with ads if you don’t want to.

Linus Tech Tips has called out YouTube for adding 30-second unskippable ads to its TV app "When will it be enough? Are we just going to go all the way back to cable TV with three-minute ad breaks? Can we not?"
English

@allnewtomorrow I use Brave, and haven't noticed a real difference between YT's updates and their blocking.
The device is called a Pi-Hole, and requires at least a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 and a couple of other parts (power cable, plug, etc). You can put it together in an afternoon.
English

@adamndsmith the browser doesnt always work and often its an update race vs app and youtube.
whats the 20 quid device again? ive heard of it but never seen it in the wild.
English

@oldo This is true, same with Instagram and some others. But it's very near, and that's when you might need to dedicatedly use an ad-blocking browser
English

@adamndsmith Not true RE reverse proxies like piehole. They don't work for YT ads because they serve them directly from YT URL.
English

@AidenTEM Oh I should have said - the £20 device, called a pi-hole, also blocks ads on most streaming services on TV. But if you mean normal satellite television, yeah, I don't know how to get around that
English

@adamndsmith Oh look! it's another post from a trans rights activist who doesn't give a shit about women, this time, it's the freedom of the women in Iran.
English

@adamndsmith Your judgment is already clearly flawed when you think males can have babies

@RupertLowe10 @MothinAli The Greens are the party stereotypically full of vegetarians and vegans.
I, personally, would love to see the ban of *any* slaughter.
But singling out one specific type, for one specific religion, and mandating the state do so? Not exactly right-wing libertarianism
English

Your obsession with it is a racist dog-whistle, that's why no one takes you seriously. However this is the wrong Eid...
Rupert Lowe MP@RupertLowe10
@MothinAli Thoughts on banning halal slaughter mate? Nobody from the 'Greens' seem keen to answer me on that?
English

Winthrop accepted public accountability as the condition of the project, that “the eyes of all people are upon us.” But these billionaires want to shrink from the public view, to avoid criticism, and to be accountable to no-one but themselves.
