@maxfawcett Québec, as a result of the Supreme Court of Canada, is forced to allow private insurance. The Supreme Court declined to apply it to the rest of Canada, and ruled the other way in BC recently. But in Québec you cannot constitutionally force the public to use the single payer.

I really like this idea. Provincial governments have been skating for years on their responsibility to manage healthcare. By eliminating the federal funding and letting them tax (and spend) as they see fit, the political risk goes where it belongs.

With an especial preference for non-SF, since that’s where I’ve read most short fiction Personal favorites: “Story of Your Life” (and all other Ted Chiang), “The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas” (Ursula K. Le Guin), and “Flowers for Algernon” (Daniel Keyes) I enjoy Borges and Lem, but they’re not top of my personal favorites
