There are a few places where he gets facts wrong. For example, the 20 credentials forms are not all attributable to Chan. Also, he misunderstands that those rejected at credentials were not permanently ineligible, but unable to prove their identity when they first tried to vote. They reattended with proper ID and were admitted. That is an example of the system working, and not a failure.

Some key findings from the dismissal of Nate Erskine-Smith’s appeal. #onpoli [25] Importantly, representatives of the nomination contestants (including Mr. Erskine-Smith) were entitled to—and, according to the evidence, did—observe each step of this process. Scrutineers for the campaigns were positioned at the DRO stations and the credentials stations, as well as at the ballot box. According to the evidence, there were fewer than five voters all day who were issued ballot over a specific objection as to their proof of eligibility. Each campaign also had continuous access to the electronic voters list in real time, including in the voting room and during the tabulation process. …. [28] We are fortified in this conclusion by the returning officer’s evidence. Following the nomination meeting, the returning officer and other party officials made a careful study of the credentials forms that had been completed at the nomination meeting. By cross-referencing these forms with the voters list, the returning officer identified 20 voters who had been issued credentials forms that showed them as having been deemed eligible to vote, but whose names were not crossed off the voters list. [29] The clear inference to be drawn from this evidence is that these 20 voters were deemed eligible to vote and cast ballots, but due to a record-keeping error their names were not crossed off the voters list. Counsel for Mr. Erskine-Smith agreed that it was open to us to draw this inference. We do so. [30] Once the names of these 20 voters are added to the 1,489 names that were crossed off the voters list during the nomination meeting, the discrepancy is reduced from 34 to 14. Even if there were evidence that 14 individuals voted at the meeting who had not been deemed eligible to vote—and, for the reasons given above, the evidence does not support this—a 14-vote discrepancy would still be insufficient to overcome Mr. Hafiz’s 19-vote margin of victory. Recall Mr. Erskine-Smith’s submission that he must prove “in respect of 19 or more votes, that ‘irregularities’ occurred that ‘affected the result’”. …. [57] At the hearing, Mr. Erskine-Smith emphasized that he was not alleging that any other campaign had engaged in vote-buying. Nor does he argue that any of the behaviour inside the voting room constituted an irregularity that affected the result of the election. Rather, he submits that the evidence of this behaviour should cause us to lose confidence in the validity of the voting procedures as a whole. …. [64] We have decided that a limited exception to this confidentiality is warranted in the particular circumstances of this appeal: we direct that this decision may be distributed publicly, including to representatives of the press.

I just watched news coverage about Semaj Lee, he is 7 with severe non verbal autism who was abused in his public school classroom. His mom found out because she hid a camera in his hair. I had to stop watching it because it made my stomach turn. What are parents supposed to do?

Markus de Domenico TCDSB WARD 2 Trustee Etobicoke
Tuesday night I am presenting my delegation @DPCDSBSchools in favour of flying the Pride Flag and recognizing Pride Month. The board has previously rejected their Pride motions. The Trustees are convening for a Special Board meeting to reconsider their position; It is my belief that all students and staff have a right to be accepted and welcomed in our schools. We passed these motions @tcdsb 5 years ago and we are better for it. My statement 👇 ; My name is Markus de Domenico. I am Trustee for Ward 2 Etobicoke Centre at the Toronto Catholic District School Board and former Chair of the Board of Trustees. TCDSB is the largest Catholic Board in Canada serving 90,000 students, and the largest publicly funded Catholic Board in the world. I want to thank OECTA for advocating to the Minister of Education for the reconsideration of the motion banning the Pride flag. It is not lost on me that the Minister considers this matter so important, he has directed Supervisor Byers to convene this Special Board to have this issue re-examined. Special boards are rare. We have only had one at the TCDSB. As Trustee, I have met with thousands of students, staff, parents, and Catholic faith leaders. They’ve shared their unique vision of Catholic education. The discussions have been informative, inspiring, sometimes challenging and occasionally heartbreaking. It’s a privilege to assist families in their children’s educational journey and to provide support. The role of Trustee is vital to student achievement. Catholic Boards face a number of policy issues that some construe as either Human Rights or Denominational rights. I find them to be inextricably linked. In 2019, Minister Lecce directed all boards to align their Code of Conduct with the Ontario Human Rights Code. PPM 128, asserted the Ontario Human Rights Code holds primacy over the Education Act and Ministry policies. All Boards now include terms like gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation in their codes. These same terms are in your Board rules for delegations. Catholic Boards cannot exist without government funding. Billions of taxpayer dollars support Catholic Education. Governments decide where funding goes or doesn’t go. We have witnessed how tenuous our right to public funding is and how that right has disappeared in most provinces. Our faith teaches us that God is love, not hate, joy not anger, protection not persecution. Our church has flourished because of His message of love and hope, as it stands in stark contrast to a world that continually embraces darkness and despair. He is the light. Our curriculum reflects God’s teachings, and is crafted and presented through the lens of Christ. Respect and acceptance are rooted in our faith. Despite the best of intentions, today’s reality is that members of 2SLGBTQIA community continue to be bullied, excluded, and made to feel unwelcome. Flying the Pride flag signals support for students and staff who have been marginalized for decades, and who face significantly more bullying and harmful mental health challenges than the school population as a whole. The flag is a symbol of acceptance and acknowledging those who currently feel unwelcome. The New Testament has many stories of Christ reaching out to those who are rejected and marginalized. He embraced them, and loved them. The church has shown us the power of faith and compassion. Reconciliation with First Nations peoples is a powerful example of God’s love. Five years ago Trustees at TCDSB passed a motion recognizing Pride Month, and authorizing flying the flag at the board office and our schools. The result of that motion? Our schools continue to excel, Catholic teaching and instruction remains at the centre of our mission, and our schools are more inclusive and welcoming. The Board’s actions enhanced the status of Catholic education. Excluding students and staff from a community has the opposite effect. It is never easy to stand against the angry voices but it is always right to stand up for your students and staff. We are stronger when we lead with love and understanding. Tonight is your opportunity to reflect, show leadership and demonstrate how as Catholics we put our faith in action. I respectfully ask you to reevaluate the issue of the Pride Flag and to vote for this expression of acceptance. @breacorbet @BonnieCrombie @oectagovernor @TECT951 @tsuOECTA 🏳️‍🌈

Spoke this morning with Israeli Foreign Minister @gidonsaar to raise Canada’s serious concern with Israel’s mistreatment of Canadian participants in the flotilla. I raised that denying Canadian citizens access to consular services while they were detained violates the Vienna Convention and must never happen again. Canada is providing Israeli authorities with evidence of this mistreatment. We have asked for and expect an independent investigation and those responsible to be held to account. We also discussed the deplorable rise of antisemitism in Canada and the steps that the Government of Canada is taking to protect Canada’s Jewish community from hate and violence.

This is called social murder. Arbitrary government policies will result in these Palestinian kids being killed because Canada refuses to let them in for scholarships they've already earned.

Brilliant Gazan students have worked hard, won scholarships, and accepted into Canadian universities—yet they trapped by endless visa delays. Canada promised emergency path, but bureaucratic roadblocks are failing these vulnerable students. #cdnpoli jennykwanndp.ca/the_varsity_ga…

People tend to qualify their recommendations for ZZ by saying "it gets darker in the 2nd half" but the first half of ZZ reveals some of the bleakest details of the Universal Century in the background where you're not paying attention. The Shangri-La colony featured here... 🧵
