It has always been like that even after the new Constitution in 2008. Editors are loyal to their sponsors. Journalists are forced to either self censor or not report at all. All the old school editors (who are still in the business) are responsible for perpetuating this.

I didnt forget Afrasheem's or Shiaau's murder, the disappearance of Moya meeha, adeeb files, waheed x epstien, the current silence in place of Yumn's injustice and I certainly will not forget the little boy who recently lost his life nor will I ever be desensitized, i refuse.

As my friend said, Journalism died when @mjamaldives President @naaif was outed for taking large sums of money from Adeeb and the rest of MJA decided that it wasn't a big enough violation of ethics to have him step down or resign.
Naaif must resign now!

When journalists were busy crying about media bill it was youth who backed them up
These nerds were getting dragged on the street and the movement was dying The whole thing got revived by ExMp team and our call for protest
They couldnt even ask about NSPA in the press conference

They chose to turn a blind eye and give a deaf ear to the concerns of people wanting to protect this for everyone’s well being.

Looks like we may be heading in for a Super El Niño between June and August 2026 - more heat, more drought across the equatorial band. People in cities - especially Colombo - should stat thinking of long-term adaptations. Waiting for the sun to die down is not going to cut it.
