The Validation Workshop for the “Comprehensive Study of Alternatives for Single-Use Plastics in the Maldives” was held today at Champa Central Hotel. The workshop brought together key stakeholders to review and validate the findings of the study, which assesses alternatives to selected single-use plastic items in the Maldives. The study is conducted under the project “Strengthening National Policy to Reduce Single-Use Plastics in the Maldives”, implemented by the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy with funded and support from UNEP.

A stakeholder meeting was held today at Dharubaaruge, under the Kigali HFC Implementation Plan (KIP) Project, which is being implemented in collaboration with UNEP. A total of 29 representatives including importers, suppliers, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning servicing technicians and representatives from the fisheries sector participated in this meeting. This was held to support data collection and stakeholder input for the development of the HFC phasedown plan, focusing on import and supply of refrigerants and equipment in the Maldives as well as the RAC servicing practices.  Certificates of participation were presented to the participants in appreciation of their contribution to the discussion and the data collection process.
