GMA and the doctors at KATH are acting as if they are demigods and no one can touch them. It is totally absurd for the CEO to have gone contrary to the directive of the health minister and the President to shut down the emergency ward at KATH. We were in this country when CEOs of various institutions are asked to step aside or go on suspension when there is an issue for an investigation to be conducted so it is not wrong or any different for the health minister to have requested the board chairman of KATH to ask the CEO to go on a two-week suspension. The strike action by the doctors of KATH is the most senseless and absurd by any organization. Solidarity is not to go on strike for this issue as if the CEO was voted for or appointed by the doctors. If you care to know, the CEO is a government appointee under a sectoral minister and by extension the government so he can be sacked anytime if it is supposed to be. The shutdown of the emergency ward was senseless and anyone who supports it must rethink and advise themselves from attempting to advise any child in this world. Some doctors can not show any government how to govern. What the CEO did was BS! The strike by KATH doctors is BS!!! The statement by the GMA is pure nonsense!!!!

Because he is a Consultant orthopedic surgeon, he can defy the president’s directive, and when he is suspended you say the minister doesn’t respect him.. make it make sense, noble profession enti the doctor is a demigod ?

Nobody is scapegoating the CEO. He openly defied a directive from his appointor and must face the consequences. If public officials can pick and choose which directives to obey, then accountability in public service becomes meaningless. Are we now normalizing dereliction of duty by appointed officials in government institutions?

If I were Akandoh I'll sack all the KATH doctors striking.
