@MichaelJFollett Yeah, I do think the straightness of it isn’t the end of the world, a lot of really good pitchers have cut fastballs but the lack of great ride does worry me. Even still, it’s graded out as an average pitch this year and wouldn’t be a huge issue if he was more complete overall

@MichaelJFollett Needs to make some big fixes for sure, but he has a deep arsenal and great breaking balls. Obviously some rookie come in and strike out the world but not everyone does, and that doesn’t mean that the guys who were better initially will have better careers

@duckiesae He’s just made the conscious choice to swing more, in 2024 he had a 41.3% (8th percentile) swing rate and this year he has a 53.3% (88th percentile) swing rate. Obviously brought the chase up and walks down but also has brought his batting average up and strikeouts down

Joshua Baez is absolutely shredding AAA right now, with elite metrics in pretty much every category - there's still some concern with his Z-Contact%, Whiff%, Chase%, and that'll be tested as he transitions to the MLB. Regardless, Baez has a 119 OPS+ & .308 ISO at AAA
