Just like covid times, it is seeming poor people will have to depend on community kitchens. Household staff have asked for cylinders this week. We have piped gas for now, and have offered for them to cook in our kitchen as long as available. Chaiwala outside office has asked multiple customers (including me) if we can arrange for cylinder. These aren't people with means to buy or operate induction. 5 kg cylinders people who work as laborers use, are already being filled at 3x-5x the normal prices, and most often not available. Cylinder filling shops like the one below have been common in every basti in Gurgaon for years. Now barren. This photo is old, I'm not accusing anyone of anything. All that was required in our country was to offer dignity to every citizen. And at every juncture, we fail spectacularly.

If you ask me, I would have Pep extend his contract by a year or two and then go after Vincent Kompany to take over as the manager. It would be fair to Pep as he will get some more time with this new squad, and he has repeatedly insisted about "being better" next season (in both relative and absolute terms). If that "comeback season of 26-27" goes our way or not, we don't know. However, in either case, there should be a smooth transition between Pep Guardiola's exit and Vincent Kompany's arrival, which would be great. This is what I hope to happen but again, it's not in our control. Let me know of your thoughts.

Pep has one year left on his contract. If you've already checked out on him, fine, wait until the summer and go for a manager with a proven track record at the highest level. Luis Enrique fits that profile. He's already won the treble, and there's a genuine chance he does it again this season with PSG. Wait, assess, and if the opportunity's there, poach him. Hand him the squad and let him restructure it. If you're serious about staying at the top, you go for someone of his calibre. Not Maresca. Enrique knows how to platform players, adapts systems to the profiles available/build strong teams, and shares the same tactical school as Pep = positional play. He's a master tactician with a ruthless edge. There isn't a better realistic option out there right now. Kompany isn't leaving Bayern. Flick is tied to Barça and has suggested he might end his coaching career there. Nagelsmann is locked in with Germany. So the choice is simple: go for Enrique, or regress.
