Seems like the fanbase has been left completely divided by the recent news of Enzo Maresca being a "potential" successor to Pep Guardiola.

If you ask me, I would have Pep extend his contract by a year or two and then go after Vincent Kompany to take over as the manager. It would be fair to Pep as he will get some more time with this new squad, and he has repeatedly insisted about "being better" next season (in both relative and absolute terms). If that "comeback season of 26-27" goes our way or not, we don't know. However, in either case, there should be a smooth transition between Pep Guardiola's exit and Vincent Kompany's arrival, which would be great. This is what I hope to happen but again, it's not in our control. Let me know of your thoughts.

@mcfc_robin3 Almost every squad at least at the final stages of the competition, usually consists of a skilled squad.

@CitehSide It is a failure when you look at the squad City had compared to the teams that were putting us out. And I would've understood if we were getting outplayed over 2 legs or something out of the blue happened. But most times that we got knocked out, it was due to pep messing around

I agree with this point, and will be critical of Guardiola for this. Ideally, we should have won the Champions League final against Chelsea, which we lost because he decided not to field a defensive midfielder when he has Rodri and Fernandinho at his disposal. It should have been 2 titles for us. Do we call it a failure? No. Can we label it underperformance (if we specifically talk about Europe)? Absolutely. Furthermore, 2 titles would have fully met expectations, as I believe that apart from the 18-19 season (unlucky due to VAR interference), we did not deserve to win the Champions League on other occasions. Additionally, had he won 3 titles, it would have fully cemented dominance in the competition, which sadly isn't currently the case. Let me know of your thoughts on Pep's European campaigns at our club.

@earninghaaland_ Systems fail without a backbone, at that time, a defensive midfielder was a key part of his system.

Assume that John Stones is fully fit. Who would you pick as the centre-back pairing against Arsenal? 1. Stones, Khusanov 2. Dias, Khusanov 3. Ake, Khusanov

@CitehSide he is completely the wrong choice Only managed Leicester one season and Chelsea 1.5 seasons Either we get a proven winner with CL experience or a dynamic young coach doing great work with far fewer resources like Iraola

@CitehSide I agree. Let Vinnie do a decent stint at Bayern and see if he can maintain the success there and then have a smooth transition to takeover from Pep at City.

@CitehSide Big summer ahead which means that anyone replacing Pep will be stuck with a Pep squad. Why would Kompany give up a good job at Munich to take on that poisoned chalice?

Ungrateful 🤦🏾 Tbh this season has not been that bad we are second in the PL, FA cup still in sight and Carabao Cup Final THIS SUNDAY!

@CitehSide Rodri is nowhere near what he was before the long injury lay off Nico G was playing really well in same position before Rodri came back But Pep repeatedly leaves the DM positions light when he should really play two of NOR/NG/Rodri there And won't accept that Haaland needs a rest

I have a strong feeling that once Gvardiol comes back from injury, it would be potentially over for Ruben Dias. What are your thoughts?
