I gave them a ton of feedback when I spoke to the engineers at the demo in person (most of the time it looks like a repositioning of the light source more than anything else, it was shown on games that aren't that high in graphics fidelity (I'm actually disappointed in modern AAA if this is what we have), half the time it looks simply like the additional tesselation we saw in DX11, and it can ignore a number of doubly-relected shadows). Here's the kicker though. NVIDIA has thousands of employees working on its gaming portfolio. I've seen so many people complain 'why did they work on this when they could have worked on other stuff'. They ARE working on other stuff. You might be able to only think about one feature at a time (make sure you remember to breathe), but these things are all developed in parallel with other features. If anyone has enough money to have teams invested in researching and developing a bucket load of features, it's NVIDIA. Also, you can turn the feature off. Imagine complaining about a TV channel you don't watch, just because it's on the guide and the cable service promoted it and needed two 8K TVs to do so because it was early 3D. I'll say it again. I really can't fathom the dumb. Or rather I can, and I'm just amazingly disappointed on this hardware critique. I'll get backlash from other media just for this post, sure, that much is certain (and thanks for obliging, much appreciated). But perhaps I should just bring @ctnzr on the show for an interview later in the year. He's a really cool dude anyway.

We trolled Apple for saying 8GB of RAM is analogous to 16GB RAM in PCs, however if you try do this same task on an 8GB Windows laptop, it will struggle so badly.

i dont know what causes this level of ignorant retardation on display - developers not making enough educational material on game graphics APIs/rendering, or ignorant morons with zero knowledge of the topic trying to opine on things they have no experience with ALL graphics APIs compile shaders - DX8, DX9, DX10, etc. if a shader is not compiled it will not run, in other words, you will get no output from the GPU optimization and shader pre-compilation are two different things, but shader pre-compilation IS optimization - an uncompiled shader will not run, a shader that does a lot on the GPU will run poorly during the DX8, 9, 10 era shaders had very few stages and compiled quickly, with DX11 (and esp 12) shaders got far more stages and required more time to compile - not because it's """"BAD OPTIMIZATION"""" but because there are far more stages for the GPU VENDOR DRIVER COMPILER to go through and optimize for the GRAPHICS CARD ARCHITECTURE THATS IN YOUR COMPUTER most DX11 (and earlier) games compile shaders when the game loads, or during actual playing in games where there are a lot of shaders being compiled during gameplay you may get stuttering Skyrim, Fallout 4, Cyberpunk 2077, Kingdom Come Deliverance, Dying Light - all these games compile shaders when you launch the game; why do you think your CPU usage shoots up to 100% briefly and then never again (until you change the GPU or update your drivers, which flushes the shader cache) while you're in the main menu or while the game is loading into the main menu with a black screen? you cant blame people like this for their ignorance, but fuck me, i am sick of utter morons like this being confidently wrong and poisoning the well for everyone - fucking educate yourself on the topic before spewing total bullshit
