i need trans people to get a lot more normal about bottom surgery, both of the mtf and ftm variety. the way some (a lot actually) of you talk about the outcomes of these surgeries is often indistinguishable from the language the transphobes who want us dead use

I don’t think you’ve actually listened to any arguments against gendered socialization if you think this and you are also appealing to the idea of a true gender by saying anyone “really” is the gender they were assigned.

I really wish people had an argument against the idea of gendered socialization that didn't rely on the idea that everyone has a deep down secret one TRUE gender just waiting to be revealed bc I know plenty of trans people who actually were their assigned gender as children

like i can understand the problems with 'transsexual' (yes it does sound like a sexuality maybe) but there are plenty of problems with 'transgender'.
personally i think 'transsex' is the best but at this point does getting mad at people for using either word help anyone

would you believe me if i said people find transsexual an icky term because of a years-long effort to decouple being trans from material transition aimed to help justify depriving us of medical care and legal recognition?

the reason i said trans people instead of trans women is because stuff like bathroom bills and reversing id changes does affect all of us at least. i recognize that the government targets specifically trans women in most other areas

@burnthelilacs no actually i think calling any hormone "poison" and acting like you were "raped" by it is odd too. i dont like my estrogen either but its not poison. its saved many trans women. its saved many cis women as well. it just personally was not for me

yeah i do kinda need people to stop acting like estrogen does nothing. trans guys have equal right to say 'estrogen is poison, i was raped by estrogen', et cetera, as trans women do about testosterone.

A) no movement want kids on meds and surgery as fast as possible. In fact, it's ultra Uber rare. B) you're free to believe what you want, but why not just do the polite thing and use their preferred name, rather than refuse? How does it harm you? If I told you "please call me Ty" why would you resist?

people who are transitioning and on hormones (or desire to be) rly should be the voices we listen to the most, i find it weird that this isnt the case and we REALLY need to push back on people speaking for us
