@PNASNews This is why our #ConservationDogs Dogs are increasingly being dispatched to assist pollinator research, detecting endangered butterfly larvae & bumblebee nests so we can better understand the different life stages of these at-risk pollinators.

Despite widespread concern about insect declines, the conservation status of 88.5% of insects and arachnids in the United States is unknown. Only 2.5% of at-risk species are federally protected, mostly showy species, such as butterflies. In PNAS: ow.ly/6UQY50YrkWG

Best book review ever!! Meet Filson, one of Rogue Detection Teams conservation canines and the best good boy. He’s retired now, but he liked reading about all the important wildlife research he helped with in my book Yosemite Wildlife! When I learned about Filson and the amazing work that @roguedetection does-I knew I had to include this in my book. This awesome organization adopts shelter dogs and then trains them to be conservation superheroes! They use noninvasive methods to detect wildlife, such as finding scat in the multi-year mountain lion study in Yosemite I write about.
