This represents a failure. The word that is missing from this respiratory report is "prevention". PS you have a number in the middle of the word "hospital" @UKHSA @wesstreeting are you ok with this? IPC are you ok with this?

@brownecfm It still absolutely astounds me that from an ongoing airborne pandemic , NHS health services have removed the infection control for masking around patients. ( with anytype mask , let alone the FFP3 )

Please read the entire article. What galls me is that there is nothing 'astonishing' about this; it was absolutely predictable. The reasons are multi-factorial, but low uptake of flu and Covid vaccines (and very tight eligibility for the latter) are a large part of the problem.

@lsthart So you think every health issue someone has after 2020 is due to covid?

It’s also just the exact same argument anti vaxxers use!! Like in 2020 that was the argument republicans used for reopening! Anecdotes aren’t data and data shows that covid degrades your heart, immune system, blood vessels, brain, general health over time
Dylan 🌧🐢⛈️@DGarrettDG

there's also an inability to handle the reality of mass health issues that aren't instant death all the arguments about how "i had it and i'm fine" etc could be applied to things like lead and asbestos

There is a concerted effort by authorities to play down Long Covid, especially in children. Here we see clear evidence of that. A few loud paediatric doctors appeared, coordinated it seemed to me, effectively dismissing that Covid affected children and calling it psychological.

@TheMemeticist It typically takes medicine 17 years to get onboard with new research. How many will be able to make a recovery by 2038?

This interesting point differentiates SARS-2 from HIV immune damage. For most, it’s an accumulation of infections leading to this outcome, whereas HIV guarantees it after one infection.
Harry Spoelstra@HarrySpoelstra

"After one infection, recovery is possible. But after three, four, or five covids, it may become cumulative immune wear and tear. ❗️Each infection rewrites immune memory a bit more - REDUCING FLEXIBILITY." ➡️SARS-CoV-2 is quietly reshaping human immunity.😬 🧵👇

lol you people just make things up as you go
Michael@mrmickme2

@HarrySpoelstra I suspect that the 3rd infection onwards is where the real damage starts to mount when it comes to epigenetic changes.

You are not an expert
Michael@mrmickme2

@HarrySpoelstra Yep. The virus is remodelling our immune system for its own propagation with each infection. Also, secondary infections are having a field day in this environment. Vaccination against things like flu are even more critical when you have a disabled antiviral response.

@fitterhappierAJ Yes, because anti-vaxxers and zero covid doomers (like you) are two sides of the same coin. Both are detached from reality

@TheMemeticist Covid doesn't cause AIDS nor widespread immune harm. Why block people who challenge your narrative? You realize you're attracting anti-vaxxers, right? That "MD" is an anti-vaxxer too & makes things up. Zero covid doomers and anti-vaxxers are truly two sides of the same coin.

@legittreehugger @ken2ross False. Heart attack deaths in young people are no more common than they were pre-2020 according to the data
