We have introduced a host of fiscal measures to support businesses and the youth. For instance, the youth employment tax rebate encourages employing the youth. Moreover, we have refined the Special Economic Zone framework to improve effectiveness and investor responsiveness.

You raise fair points. But a criminal conviction has not precluded him from walking into other presidential offices, has it? It has not precluded state contracts worth hundreds of millions. It has not precluded a seat at ZITF walking alongside two heads of state. In a system where the Keeper of the Triad makes the introductions, a conviction is not a barrier. It is barely a footnote.

I have conducted a tour of exhibitions at the ongoing 66th edition of the ZITF, which attracted 775 exhibitors from across the globe. I was very much impressed by the level of innovation I witnessed. The tours included the @ZimTreasury, @Zimra_11, NVCCZ, and the DPC.

Social media influencers in Zimbabwe who earn money from platforms like YouTube and Facebook are now being told to sort out their taxes. Some influencers make a lot of money. For example, Madam Boss said she can earn over US$20,000 in a good month from Facebook. Others like Mai Titi, Comic Elder, DJ Towers, Ritz and Mama Vee are also earning from online content. The tax authority (ZIMRA) says all these earnings must be declared. Influencers have a chance to come forward and report their income before May 30, 2026, without heavy penalties.
