Two days ago, Israel passed a law that allows for convicted terrorists to be sentenced to death—they received international condemnation. Since the start of this year, the Islamic Republic has executed 637 innocent Iranians—there has not been a word of condemnation. Weird.

44 years ago today, during the Falklands War, my husband stood on the front line defending our British flag in the South Atlantic. This is him on the left, captured in this moment after the battle, hands on his head, taken as a prisoner of war. He fought with courage alongside his comrades in the bitter cold and harsh conditions, doing what so many young British servicemen did, answering the call to protect British sovereignty. Until ordered to lay down arms by the Governor Rex Hunt! Today we remember the bravery of all who served in the Falklands. The ones who came home, the ones who didn’t, and the families who waited and worried. 🫡🇬🇧 To my husband - I’m so proud of the man you were then, and the man you are now. @____Foxtrot____ They don’t care, no self awareness. Most senior officers spend minimal time on the frontline, even less on public order duties. Managers (poor ones), using promotion to escape from police work. Yet media seem to love them 🤷‍♂️ Not leaders.

What these former Detective Superintendents turned police pundits don’t realise is they were actually a big part of the problem. As they pocket cash for any interview they can get, they fail to realise the showcasing of their own operational (and personal) inadequacies.

Britain now has some of the highest energy prices in the developed world, despite sitting on huge reserves of oil and gas. Why? Because we’ve pursued Net Zero at any cost, even though the UK produces less than 1% of global emissions. High energy costs drive manufacturing out of Britain. Businesses simply move somewhere cheaper often to China, where companies are heavily subsidised and able to undercut the global market. Meanwhile the United States has done the opposite. By using its own energy, including shale gas, it has driven costs down and brought industry back home. We could be doing the same: develop the North Sea, consider properly regulated fracking, and bring energy prices down. Instead, we’re refusing to use the resources beneath our own feet and our economy is paying the price.
