Hey 5th grader - The new paint was still fresh & soft. Even though the peroxide got diluted, it’s an oxidizer ... it attacks & breaks down stuff. It sat on the brand-new paint for days & peeled big chunks off. Why that’s different from the bottle? In the bottle 12% peroxide is super concentrated, but the plastic is specially made to hold it safely. In the pool the paint wasn’t tough like that special plastic.
