Sounded like they were playing a mash-up of Darude's Sandstorm and Metallica's Enter Sandman at Camp Nou. An abomination

Great to see Sky Sports’ Daniel Mann ahead of Nottingham Forest v Fulham… until he proudly revealed he’d ‘not seen a 0-0 since September 2024.’ Unforgivable curse of the commentator

@MiguelDelaney Think they could offset the negatives of it by semi-lifting the restriction on teams facing another from their domestic competition in the league phase. If your league is so strong you've got 4+ entrants then perhaps there has to be a chance you'll need to play one of your own

Any more than four teams from one country in a European competition is an absolute joke really. Uefa have made many bad decisions over the past few years, but that is one of the worst.

This is a good story and interesting in lots of ways but striking that Match of the Day, on actual TV, gets almost 7m viewers across a weekend. That’s more than 10% of the (British) population. It’s presumably still how the vast majority of fans consume football.

Didn’t think anything would challenge Harrison Reed v Liverpool for my favourite Premier League hit of the season but Patrick Dorgu has just entered the conversation

🚨🚨🚨Some personal news 🚨🚨🚨 After 25 years, 24 of them covering @ManUtd and @ManCity, I’m leaving @DailyMirror and @MirrorFootball I’ve been privileged to cover more than 1,000 games in @premierleague, @ChampionsLeague @EuropaLeague @EmiratesFACup and @Carabao_Cup as well as reporting on six @FIFAWorldCup and three @UEFAEURO tournaments, not to mention earning at least half a dozen bans from Sir Alex Ferguson! It’s been an honour to work with so many talented and loyal colleagues, past and present, many of whom have become great friends. As one door closes, another one opens, and I’m excited to explore new professional opportunities. Thanks to everyone who has supported me and read my work over the past quarter of a century - even the haters and the trolls! Below is my final column for @MirrorFootball Cheers everyone - it’s been a blast! mirror.co.uk/sport/football…

Good omen for Arsenal. When they previously won at Inter in the Champions League they went on to win the Premier League. Thierry Henry scored twice then, Gabriel Jesus did so tonight. Highlights across @BBCSport & @BBCMOTD tomorrow night

Burnley’s Axel Tuanzebe bolted from the pitch at full-time at Anfield. Heard at half-time his partner was in had labour, so Burnley made sure a car was waiting for him outside the road closures for a swift get away. Something more than a point to celebrate later🤞🏻@BBCSport

Just spoken to Arne Slot for @BBCMOTD. In relation to the prospects of a top 4 finish: “we’ve dropped far, far, far, far, far too many points… and we’ve only got ourselves to blame”

@stevenwyeth @BBCMOTD I think his afternoon was summed up by him running 40 yards at the request of the away end to check the ball was touching the corner quadrant (don’t get me started on that rule just put the bloody ball inside it!) only to see it was absolutely fine and walk away again. Weak ref.

@ricohjam @BBCMOTD Not petty at all, I guess we just try and extend the position of neutrality to the referee as well as the two teams so assess such things differently. Hopefully we get it right more often than we don’t!

@stevenwyeth @BBCMOTD As a neutral a lot of stuff would feel petty I guess but it’s the consistent inconsistency which frustrates. Throw-ins for example being allowed to be taken where one team wants to but the other is told which blade of grass to take it from.
