A satisfyingly casual one-shot dice experience! 🎲 @stphantomscript submitted Dice Carnival, and I enjoyed it enough to play all the way to the end of the demo. I love crafting and strategizing, and this game just felt right in its mechanics and progression. @SmelJey You are right; honestly, that was my initial thought, but if it is perceived this way, I won't continue doing it. The way we express things matters, and I had assumed this activity was suitable for sharing in this manner.

With all respect from a fellow dev, I find it inappropriate to drop your game in the chat, even if you do it with a polite request. I think in the most chats it falls under "self-promotion" that you are doing without any consent from the creator and without even being an active member of their community. "Game + Demos" category != their consent for such messages. Most creators have an email or (less often) twitter / discord listed somewhere on their channel that you can use to contact them privately. Believe me, it will be much more appreciated than an invasion into their stream (even though their dms are probably filled with similar requests)

Since last night, I’ve been going through Twitch streams tagged with “Games + Demos” during Next Fest and asking streamers if they could check out my game, Dice Carnival. Some of them were kind enough to try it. Some looked at the page and gave honest feedback. And honestly, I appreciated both. But a surprising number just banned me from chat or laughed at me for asking. I get that not every game is for every creator, and that’s completely fine. Sometimes I even say “I know this may not be your type, but could you at least take a quick look at the demo page?” It just feels a little discouraging. Isn’t Next Fest also supposed to help small teams get some visibility? If you’re using tags like “Games + Demos” or actively checking demos, I’d hope there’d be a little more openness to indie devs trying to be seen. #SteamNextFest #indiegame #Steam #roguelike #deckbuilder #indiedev
