I work with growing, owner-led businesses that need senior financial and operational leadership.

I think about this map a lot from the McKinsey “Great Ownership Transfer” study.
I live and work in Boise Idaho and moved here from Montana. This map is basically showing that there is a concentration of small businesses that are responsible for a large percentage of GDP in my region. In the study it references how in these rural areas there are many businesses that have “ownership transition risk”.
In other words. Viable businesses at risk of not being sold or replaced and therefore hitting the local economy and jobs.
More to come on this, but I think I’m at the right place at the right time to help.

Can someone please explain this to me??
The doctor’s office will send 17 reminders, 4 emails, 3 texts, and a carrier pigeon reminding you to arrive 15 minutes early for your scheduled appointment.
You fill out every form online in advance and dutifully arrive 15 minutes early to check.
Receptionist: “Have a seat.”
45 minutes later, you’re finally called back.
Why are only one of us expected to keep the appointment time?!

I’m not anti W2, it’s great for some.
But I know there’s a ton of people struggling because they don’t control their own time.
There’s a definite path to leave your W2 if you want to.
But wanting to is different than actually doing it.
Quitting your W2 cold turkey like I did 25 years without a plan is a risk no one should take, especially if you have a ton of expense and/or a family.
I created 3 streams of income to let me be free of the W2 handcuffs and keep them off forever.
I want that for others also and it’s why I’ve chosen to share my experiences and my ongoing journey on X and LinkedIn.
Give me a follow, search my past posts, start educating yourself on the paths I’m sharing.
I’m building a community that will be launched in the next couple of weeks where I’ll be providing networking with others who are on the journey of leaving their W2.
I’ll also be sharing in depth, my playbook and the playbook of others who will be sharing their experiences and helping build this community of positivity and encouragement. I’ll bring in friends and colleagues who have been on the same journey as myself. Real world examples so you can see what’s possible.
I can’t wait to share this with you.
Stay tuned.

Been thinking a lot about the intersection of finance and operations. I don’t have the traditional accounting/finance background. Mine is more operational finance. Maybe it’s because of all the work I’ve done with small businesses and how often you are required to wear many hats. Maybe it’s because numbers are just numbers if you don’t do anything with them. Which is something I like. Numbers that inform and create action.

I was talking with a banker yesterday about my work. He noted how many companies rely on a family member to help with “CFO” services. Which totally has a time and place. But, he said at some point they need to bring in some help. And eventually, the bank might force your hand if you aren’t proactive about it.

Are you going to die tomorrow?
I know you don’t have an answer.
I’m asking to challenge your thought process.
Are you saving and waiting until you retire to live?
Do you know for sure you will get there?
Rare W2 jobs allow you flexibility to live.
Most don’t.
3 weeks vacation and PTO.
That’s it.
That’s what you have to work with to enjoy time doing something you want to do.
For the past 25 years, I’ve answered to no one.
If my kids had games at 3pm, I went.
Since smartphones were invented, there’s no excuses. I can work anywhere.
You can too.
I don’t care if you have expenses.
Cut them.
Drive a civic instead of an $80000 suv.
You can get started if you want to.
There are no good excuses why you can’t get your life back.
It’s priorities.
Your material excuses are not excuses.
I’m here to show you how I did it.
Follow me if you are interested in learning how.
Search my past posts.
I’ve already posted plenty of real world examples.
Karma is real, and I’m giving back.
