Yesterday, I had the honor of hosting the KNUST SRC Parliament and other SRC executives led by the 17th Speaker of Parliament, Alhassan Wunnam Shanni @thewunnam, alongside the SRC President, Shakir Waiz Ishaq @realShakirIsHaq. It was a privilege to interact and encourage them in their leadership journeys and urge them to be known for something meaningful that is to leave a mark or legacy that outlasts their tenure. My colleagues also shared valuable advice, reminding them that true leadership is about service, integrity, and impact. Today, as part of my oversight responsibilities as the Member of Parliament for Oforikrom, I conducted a working visit to all health facilities in the constituency. Oforikrom, with a population of over 300,000, is served by just four CHPS compounds: Kentinkrono CHPS Compound, Anwomaso Health Center, Ayeduase CHPS Compound, and Oforikrom CHPS Compound. These facilities provide essential primary health care to our residents, but more complex cases require referrals to KNUST Hospital, Ejisu or KATH often at significant cost to patients. The Agenda 111 hospital project at Kokoben was intended to ease this burden and offer comprehensive health solutions to our community. However, we remain uncertain about its opening with regular arguments on whether it is truly 95% complete and ready to be operationalized. I want to commend the dedicated health workers and the Director of Health for Oforikrom for their sacrifices and outstanding service to the people of Oforikrom and Ghana as a whole. My visit laid bare several gaps in our constituency's health management, and I am committed to working diligently to address these issues over time.
