Apple iOS 26.4 in the UK what owning nothing looks like. You are not in control of your device, the manufacturer and whoever they must comply with is. Do not buy Apple products. Avoid buying iPhones.

@timeades @Lady_Dragon__ @H1BeesNuts Yes, but for those of us that do not want a credit card and in my case also cannot drive, they don’t accept debit cards so I have to use my passport because that is my only form of identification. Google however, says passport are not supported, so what am I meant to do?

Fuel up to 1.79 now in our village. I know that's cheap compared to some places. 2 weeks ago it was 1.37. Absolute cashing-in greedy feckers. And that's just the government.

@Rambo33768293 @KathrynPorter26 @RachelReevesMP @griffitha We don’t have or own, we used to until 1985 when BNOC was sold off. Now at best we have private companies extracting the oil under licence and selling it on the open market. That might help with supply but will do nothing to the cost.

@KathrynPorter26 @RachelReevesMP @griffitha Heard you on Times Radio this morning you were superb. Spelt it out correctly. Transition until technology becomes reliable & cost effective NEEDS fossil fuel energy & other goods. What will replace plastics? What lubricates the turbines. Extracting & using our own supply is best

ChatGPT made this graphic for me to illustrate the pump price of petrol... The fuel duty is higher than the crude oil component And then we pay VAT including on the fuel duty!! When @RachelReevesMP talks about fuel profiteering she needs to look in the mirror @griffitha @ClaireCoutinho

Android will have a two layer roll out. The first one is the verified apps layer, this is coming within the next 18 months. All app developers (me) have to register. This is good in respect of weeding out scammers. But this is followed by a similar type of layer to the user end. It's a hop and a skip and it's done. 1984 is here. "MiniTrue"

@jordankenny6 @japers_1984 @Brunte84 I think it will be achieved, at the moment there are pieces of the jigsaw missing but the target date is still 25 years away and a lot of technical advances can be made in that time frame

⛽ Next time you hear the Government blame the prices on overseas crisis, think of this 👇🏼 No tax/VAT: 📉 Unleaded 67.0p/litre Diesel 86.1p/litre Full pump price: 📈 Unleaded 143.9p/litre Diesel 166.8p/litre Govt takes ~77p petrol / ~81p diesel per litre (fuel duty 52.95p + 20% VAT). Over half your fill-up is tax 💸

£1.2 billion spent, before a single brick is laid. The Lower Thames Crossing is now officially a pre construction money pit. £1.2 billion wasted on plans, land, consultants, and bureaucracy, while our roads crumble and communities suffer. Imagine what Britain could do with that money instead: hospitals, schools, fixing potholes, lowering taxes. This isn’t progress, it’s proof that infrastructure in Britain is broken.

The UK government wrote the tyrant law, forcing mandated ID to browse the web. Apple enforces it instantly and built the perfect cage. 35 million iPhones just turned into state-monitored devices overnight. You drop $1k on a piece of hardware, but you still need to hand over your ID and credit card just to open a web browser. Everyone is mad at the government. Fair enough. But look at the mechanism. When one mega-corp controls your OS, your App Store, and your browser engine, your $1,200 phone isn't yours. It's just a tracking device you rent from the state. Walled gardens are a trap. Centralized tech will always fold to state demands. A single software update is all it takes to hold your own phone hostage. "Privacy. That's iPhone." Right. Until the regulator asks nicely. Closed ecosystems are massive security risks. Open source and privacy tech aren't just cool cypherpunk ideals anymore. They are literal survival tools. This is exactly why we build permissionless systems. You don't own your tech unless you control the base layer. Build the exit. 🥷
Big Brother Watch@BigBrotherWatch

🚨NEWS: UK iPhone users must now prove their age or lose full internet access "It is absolutely outrageous that, overnight, Apple has put a chokehold on Britons' freedom to search the internet, access information and use apps unless they provide sensitive ID documents. This means 35 million Brits who have paid hundreds or even thousands of pounds for Apple tech suddenly now have a child's device unless they comply with invasive demands for personal information that go far beyond what UK law requires. Apple has crossed the Rubicon with this software update which is more like ransomware, holding customers hostage to ID demands that are invasive, exclusionary and unnecessary. Children's online safety is vital but requires better parental controls and thoughtful tech responsibility - not sweeping, draconian, shock demands by foreign companies for all of our IDs and credit cards." - Silkie Carlo [@silkiecarlo]

@japers_1984 @Brunte84 Unlike the UK, that sold off all it's assets to the private sector, the French Government own a significant stake in an Oil Company(TotalEnergies) & own an Energy Company(EDF) giving them the ability to control the cost that little bit more.

@Jenny_1884 The High Streets around me seem to be doing very well, Hammersmith, Fulham, Richmond, Kensington, Chiswick, Teddington all have thriving High Streets with a good mix of shops. Yes there are one or two barbers/nail shops/vape shops/charity shops but are insignificant in the mix.

I walked down a high street today & the only shops were charity shops, vape shops, Turkish barbers & nail salons. As I didn’t want any of these I didn’t hang around long. How has this been allowed to happen?
