Although this might look like a win, Burnham was the architect of the 2005 ID Card policy. Maybe he’s learned from past mistakes? Maybe not.

I’m sure the civil service got their dollar. This is a win, but we need to make sure it doesn’t get slowly merged into something else.

Unbelieveable, no literally unbelievable, he speaks with fork tongue. He was appointed not elected, so who appointed him, chances are it was the WEF or the Fabian Society. If you are a Labour MP but not a member of the Fabian Society you are not getting into Government. Andy is a Fabian Society member and Fabian are closely aligned yo the WEF, so there is no way Digital ID is being dropped, in name only maybe, but it is already everywhere in Government. Government and WEF align private sector, already demand employee vetting using the new Government Digital ID vetting system, as are company Directors or majority interest partners. It is already here because by defaulg these systems are creating your digital ID and adding it to the database. Supermarkets are using facial recognition, tracking you through the shop to the checkout where they know which till and linkinh your image to your payment meyhod build a digital ID, which can be linked to the one Government will eventually have also built based on information it gives itself to hold and retain. The Government has contracted multiple electronic vetting companys which collect personal information, processes it and pass it on to undisclosed systems with implicit consent not explicit consent, so the individual does not know where their personal data is held. The originting party seeking the vetting gets confirmation of a pass or fail and that is all. Meanwhile the data is likely held by as many databases as the whole Digital ID needs. The existance of these systems and contracts informs us, a. Digital ID is in full swing in terms of gatgering personal information and b. The bew ID industry and Government are not going to drop it and investment already made, just because one soon to be PM says it will, lets not be that naive.

I suspect the scrapping will be limited to the unification of government systems under one ID, perhaps include reporting for companies, but we may still end up with functional digital identification via the OSA, and its off-shoot legislation, which I suspect he won't be scrapping.. If Burnham means it ....then he still needs to be held to the grindstone on those matters!
