I’m sorry but you’re just acting butthurt like a fucking moron… he’s also a screenwriter, and not the only one working on the project, and this project is explicitly being developed with Peter Jackson who all the fans want. Unlike the Amazon series which wa made without Peter Jackson’s involvement. You’re clearly just not a real lotr fan…

Having “Tolkien scholars” in the writers room didn’t stop Rings of Power from being complete dogwater. Stephen Colbert being some Tolkien encyclopedia doesn’t give him credence to craft an actual SEQUEL to LotR. We’re not doing this argument.

@CinemaTweets1 He’s actually a Tolkien expert and a screenwriter. What more does he need? Also, he’s not the only screenwriter. He’s just one on the project.

Why is Stephen Colbert given the responsibility to write a new Lord of the Rings film? What am I missing- how is this happening? I have no opinion about Colbert on a personal level, I’m neutral, but what qualifies him to write this? Because he’s a massive LOTR fan? That’s it?

Quite literally for years until Emma Watson was cast many people thought her minor was a black girl because her skin color is never mentioned in the book only her dark brown kinky hair texture as her main defining feature… I believe the only physical description of her mine given in the first book is literally “bushy brown hair” and “large front teeth”… other than that she’s described as a know it all who may actually know it all… It’s worth noting that because of this JK Rowling herself has had Hermiine always be played by a black woman in the stage play versions of cursed child…. Yall are just clearly not actual fans of Harry Potter. You’re just racists pos…

Idk why you’re assuming he will be th only black person at hogwarts. Also, even if he is, that still sets up interesting parallels between Harry and Voldemort that could be interesting. People forget by Harry potter is technically a period piece as well. It’s all set in the early 90s and there were (and still are) many aspects of racism within British society. And as the story progresses the whole point of snape’s character is that Harry misjudged Snape and even names his son after Snape to honor him. I’m not really understanding your criticism here… basically amounts to stories can’t be controversial in any way? Is that really what you want?

@willibitting @SenouNatsuru52 @abbottnation @RedLineReportt Being a soldier means you are subject to PT that an average civilian isn't going to be forced to do. Any additional physical exercise increases the amount of calories you need. A regular civilian isn't forced to exercise or meet any physical standards the same way a soldier is.

🚨JAW-DROPPING moment as Steven Crowder stuns liberal when he exposes the reality of SNAP. She admits he's RIGHT. "Our soldiers get MREs and they have to pay for them. Why should somebody able-bodied, choosing not to work, get ANYTHING better than our soldiers?" CROWDER: Snacks and treats? You say 'choice,' here are the choices...pre-filled pumpkin buckets of Halloween candy. How do we tell low-income Americans they should fund that? LIBERAL: A lot of them have children. CROWDER: So do the people working who pay taxes. LIBERAL: OK. That's a fair point... CROWDER: The obesity rate for low-income women not on SNAP is 40%. You know what it is for those on SNAP? 57%. Working class Americans with kids, struggling, are paying to make other people FATTER. What's your response to this......??👀 MAKE THIS GO VIRAL ON 𝕏. LET’S GO 👏

What exactly do you mean by “going to need more”… every person needs food, water, and shelter to survive… this is just a part of the human condition. Can you tell me this: why do you people want poor people to die so bad? And before you say it, most of the people who receive SNAP benefits do in fact work full time jobs, they just dont make enough money to cover food and rent etc. The main exception to those not working but still receieving SNAP benefits are those that are disabled and can’t work… If you’re going to have an opinion you might as well do the research first to justify that opinion so you don’t come off like a misanthropic, classist, moron…

@abbottnation @RedLineReportt BAS has to cover the nutritional needs of a soldier. Soldiers are 9 times out of 10 going to need more than people on SNAP. They are also in a JOB that could get them killed if they have to deploy.

SNAP doesn’t require a job… that does not mean the people who receive SNAP benefits arent working. The vast majority are currently employed or have been in full time employment within the last year of receieving SNAP benefits. The main exception are those few people who are too disabled to get full time work. Why are you stupid, evil, and misinformed… this is a bad combination… work on yourself…

@abbottnation @RedLineReportt BAS is a form of COMPENSATION that military members get for WORKING. That is in no way similar to SNAP, which people get for no work at all. They are in no way similar.

The vast majority of people on SNAP work full time jobs (unless they are disabled) or they are currently in between jobs and have worked a full time job with the last year of receiving SNAP benefits. Why is it you all are both hateful and deeply ill informed about the things you hate… maybe you’re just awful people… maybe…just maybe…

@abbottnation @RedLineReportt Of course the soldier has to, you know, work a job, serve their country, put their lives at risk… As opposed to a fat, unemployed, SNAP recipient. You make it sound like the soldier receives so much more than them. I think their work is worth more than the extra $178.95.

@KOTULCN @Tweeter_xyzd @spencer_askew Ive not read the book. But i could feel much was left on teh table. She’s a good character but not a good “female” character. Her being a woman is entirely incidental and irrelevant to the story the movie puts forth.

@Tweeter_xyzd @spencer_askew Stratt is my favorite character in the book, especially with the way Ray Porter portrayed her. It’s a shame she was neutered in the movie. I’m hoping for an extended directors cut dvd for the movie which I liked.

Outside of the fact that the film is incredibly well-made, I’ve been ruminating on why Project Hail Mary has struck such a cultural chord. I think it comes down to the reality that society is starving for hope. “Cool guy” cynicism is dead. People are craving “earnest,” even when it’s cheesy. We’re through resonating with jaded and bitter characters that turn up their nose at concepts of goodness and self-sacrifice. We want someone who stares the apocalypse in the face and still finds a reason to have hope, crack jokes, and love their friends well. They pushed nihilism HARD, and it has been thoroughly and utterly rejected by the masses. PHM is a return to meaningful storytelling, rather than disillusioned content-creation.

She was also white and European and never sexualized or shown to be a love interest nor is she shown to be a savior. In fact the story almost goes out of its way to make her an asexual robotic bureaucrat that is cold and analytical with almost no feelings and is framed as somewhat of a villain. Her gender is also entirely irrelevant to her plot and characterization. She could have been replaced by a male actor, a different race, different country of origin, etc. I don’t think she’s a particularly great example of how audiences are evolving and are now fine with women characters. Her character just avoids every typical trait that sexist trolls use to complain about. I liek her character dont get me wrong and i think the actress portrays the character well in the movie. But She’s barely a woman. She’s “the government” quoting her line.

@spencer_askew Nobody talks about the woman btw. She wasn't mean and cocky, she wasn't trying to tear him down to lift herself up. Instead she built him up to live up to his full potential. She was laconic and pragmatic, but had a soul too. That's how you actually make a strong female character

It’s so mcuh simpler than that… they just actually marketed teh hell out of this movie. They didnt focus on trailers. They focused on fan engagement and viral stunt marketing and used social media as a discovery mechanism. Yes the movie is good. But thats not what gets butts in seats. For a LONG time the film industry forgot how to market because they were used to being able to release things into theaters or on network tv and have a built in audience. But streaming and social media broke that discovery mechanism.

@BrilynHollyhand Yeah, no, that's not what the choices were. It was actually: A) do nothing to Iran and life goes on exactly the same or B) A rise in the price of everything, gas is just the beginning

To be clear, the choices were: A) Iran obtaining nuclear weapons. B) A temporary increase in gas prices. The answer is clearly B. Sadly, some in our country can’t even decide whether they’re a male or female, so Trump had to choose for them.
