@jasontbattle 20 years ago there were 1-3 forwards in the league that could playmake at all. Now every team has at least one. 20 years ago there were 1-2 players on the court that could consistently hit a 3. Now there’s 4. There was 3 guys that could dribble at all now there’s 4-5.

i actually don't think the nba is "more skilled" these days than back in the day i think there are some players that have been allowed to play different roles but i don't actually think that equates to having more skill in a LOT of cases

See here’s the thing about the NBA I could give you 50-100 guys from the NFL who could do what the Thompson twins or Lu Dort do on a nightly basis. You can’t show me 1 guy from the NBA who could do what Myles Garrett does on a weekly basis. It’s levels.

I would love to have a Laker squad that applies constant pressure defensively like Toronto and some of these other up and coming teams. Need the athletes and defenders tho

@BobbyMlRE Half the league tanking makes so many of these teams appear to be much better than they really are. You have 50 win and high 40 win teams that are probably more along the line of a 30-35 win teams. There's couple great teams and every other teams wins are inflated drastically.

This is why I’m leaning towards a more realistic center rotation this summer that includes Ayton, Mitchell Robinson as a high end backup who can start occasionally, and then a rookie(Morez?) to develop long term Unless you get a Kessler, I don’t see a clear long term big in FA

@RooshWilliams Averaged 18/8/5 as a top 3 defender in the league. If he improves that 3 point shot to just being a poor shooter he’s probably a top 8 player halfway through that contract.

If the Rockets give Amen Thompson a max contract, it will cripple their future. Excellent player. Championship-caliber player. Not a #1 or #2 option on a contender and therefore not worth max money.

@funakistats You can’t just compare their 3 point percentage in a vacuum FVV shoots high volume and gets heavily guarded out there. Teams pack the paint and let him shoot open 3s. Ja would be a horrible fit with Amen and Sengun. FVV is one of the better fits in the league with them.

Hear me out… If Ime Udoka returns as coach, the left-field trade the Rockets should consider is Fred VanVleet for Ja Morant… Both are below average 3PT shooters (both shot 34.5% in their last full seasons). But Ja gives you POA advantage creation and elite transition that the Rockets desperately need and will never get with Fred. Especially the 32-year-old post-ACL version Ja’s best season was paired with Steven Adams… proven pick n roll read and react instant offense (what Udoka is hell bent on) Ceiling is higher, KD plays off-ball and lives off Ja’s paint pressure. Stone would never do it cos it’s too risky… but it’s exactly the kind of ballsy move you make when you’re this far from contending and entering KD’s age-38 season

@calvingonba Can isn’t a great defender so we’d be in the same position as the beginning of this year. Herb has to start in this scenario. And 2 disgustingly injury prone centers is a massive gamble. Pick one and then find someone reliable.

Theoretically Luka AR Cam Bron MitchRob Grimes Luke Smart Herb RobWill Is like a semi realistic dream scenario. Bring back the core 3, upgrade Rui to Cam, bench scoring upgrade w Grimes, and defensive anchors that work well w ball handlers. Would require using the picks.
