@Danhybridfit I’d say it’s very person dependent. I can see the argument for both

These two thought leaders discussing different approaches is free education - What a time to be alive! Knowledge is literally everywhere. Just have an open mind and be willing to learn from people more experienced

I dunno, man... If you're say a 20 minute 5K runner doing 30mi/wk w/ 2 specific interval workouts/wk. You drop the interval workouts for a year and commit to building to consistent 60mi/wk of *only* easy miles plus strides. Then run a 5K. I know where I'm putting my money.

Now that fake Rolexes and handbags are effectively identical to the real thing, what options remain for truly exclusive status goods?

@samclementt Yep massively more comfortable than a Chest strap and just as accurate for me while running. In certain other excersises I’ve found it to struggle. Ski erg is the main one

@Alan_Couzens What do you thinks the minimum training time to be competitive and maximising performance

No time → no high performance. That’s endurance sport. If time is limited, the goal shifts to health & fitness. Your training should shift too.

@JasonFitz1 What do you think would be the best answer to this? How should you approach a coach to get the best out of them?

Let's say someone gifted you a running coach for an entire year. What's the #1 goal you'd want to accomplish?

It’s interesting when you hit that pain cave in an endurance event Your mind goes to places you would never tell anybody about Funny how the human brain works

@KrtekMyyra @stevemagness Why do you think this is? As most people go with the theory of more easy volume the better. Do you think it’s individual physiology?

@willtokeefe @stevemagness I tried different methods and this is the one that worked for me, brought much better results than with 80 km weeks. I need the no-run days in between, instead doing some easy cycling to stretch the legs. Your HM is a bit faster than mine so you'll be ok, just don't blow up.

Most people don't run enough to reach their potential. It's just a fact. The average 3hr+ marathoner does ~40mpw. No one runs their best marathon on 40mpw. I understand why: jobs, life, etc. But the simplest way to improve your PR for novices is to figure out how to run more

@KrtekMyyra @stevemagness This is basically the plan I’ve been following. Threshold run built up to 3 x 20 mins Intervals at 10k pace Long run built to 20 miles with 16 at MP 0 or 1 easy run. Also never done sport competitively

@willtokeefe @stevemagness I did 2:57 with running 3-4 times per week, 50-60 km total. Tempo run, intervals, long run, everything high intensity, no easy runs. Never done any other sport competitively.

@stevemagness Well I’m going for it in London with a 55KM per week average. Ran a 1:22:50 HM and have had some good long runs with 16 miles at MP. Is this considered on the lower side?

@willtokeefe I mean it just depends on talent. You get someone super talented. Or a former pro and they’ll be able to do it on next to nothing.

Taper time! Sub 3 marathon debut attempt in London, 3 weeks time. Here’s my last 12 weeks. Includes a HM PB 1:22:56 A lot of people saying the volume is too low. The last 4 long runs have been 16-20 miles with 14-16 miles at MP. Averaged 4:05/KM feeling strong. Time will tell

@tim_roozendaal Yeh I also think as it’s become trendier, people who have been running for decades in silence are now sharing what they’re doing. I’ve got a 50 year old local to me who I’ve just discovered has a sub 4:00 steady pace

Since when did chasing 5'00/km became the new 4'00/km? Is this the runflation they keep talking about?
