Tory friend jokes "you're a Tory now?!" re: post about VAT rates. Wanting small independent hosp businesses (mostly training/employing young people for hospitality) to thrive over corporate chains shouldn't exactly be seen as non-Labour! Apparently they're all about growth...?

๐ข EXC: Zack Polanski will target trade unions with appearances at conferences as part of a Green Party strategy to win over core Labour groups disillusioned with Sir Keir Starmerโs leadership The Green leader has spoken to ten unions, including some officially affiliated with Labour, across health, education and culture sectors He is set to make five keynote speeches at union conferences in an attempt to win over members One Green source said Polanskiโs goal was to stop the unions funding Labour, rather than getting them to back the Greens outright Polanski told @thetimes that a โcrucial partโ of replacing Labour as Britainโs main left-wing option for voters was to โconnect with the organised labour movementโ thetimes.com/article/4c6085โฆ

Labour voters are now those who are financially best off. This is because Labour have turned their backs on the working class to placate the wealthy. The unions have noticed and are liking what they see in a Green Party committed to workers right and affordability.

We cannot rely on our media to tell us what Labour are doing. Hereโs 11 positive announcements from the last 5 days that are unreported. Itโs our job to make these known far and wide. #DoingTheMediasJob #LabourAchievements #FixingBritain

Premier League fans deliver damning verdict on VAR. 75% of 7,946 fans polled by the Football Supportersโ Association โdidnโt support the use of VARโ. Too long, too forensic, too much of a joy killer, fans say. Findings shared with Premier League and PGMO. 92% of fans surveyed โagreedโ that โVAR has removed the spontaneous joy of goal celebrationsโ (82% of them โstrongly agreedโ). 85% of match-going fans โstrongly disagreedโ with the notion that โVAR makes watching football more enjoyableโ. And 83% of those watching on TV. 85% of match-going fans โstrongly disagreedโ that โVAR decisions are generally resolved in a reasonable amount of timeโ. Echoed by 83% of those watching on TV. Only 18% agreed that โVAR has improved the overall accuracy of refereeing decisionsโ. 72% are โconcerned about the expansion of VAR beyond its current remitโ. 79% โstrongly disagreedโ with the suggestion โthat the match-going experience is better with VARโ. 67% โstrongly agreedโ that they preferred โwatching games that are played without VAR to games with VARโ. 84% โstrongly supportโ goal-line technology. 34% โstrongly opposedโ to the idea of a challenge system (two per game per team). โThese findings back up the FSA's previous survey in 2021, where fans expressed misgivings about the introduction of VAR,โ says Thomas Concannon, @WeAreTheFSAPremier League network manager. โThe vast majority are reporting the same concerns five years on - the loss of spontaneity when celebrating goals, and an overall worsening of the match-going experience. We have shared the survey results with the Premier League and PGMO, and look forward to discussing its findings with them.โ Fans surveyed of all PL clubs and all ages (Under-18 to 65+).
