MAID is often being framed as if safeguards don’t exist.
They do.
In Alberta, MAID already involves centralized coordination, multidisciplinary supports, multiple independent assessments, and –. when death isn’t imminent – a mandatory 90-day evaluation period.
Patients can withdraw at any time.
The issue isn’t absence of safeguards.
It’s how changes will affect how care is actually delivered.
Over the coming days, I’ll walk through what’s being proposed – and what it means in practice as Bill 18 returns for debate in mid-April.

Enough with the misinformation. Alberta is simply requiring parental consent for under-16s to access explicit visual sexual content in public libraries. The books stay available—just not freely handed to children without parental permission. Disagree without a strawman. #ableg
