@tonygig @BenjaminSolak Because it doesn't fit the narrative. It's a lose lose situation for the Pats. Had they won the 8-10 games everyone predicted before the season it would've been a failure of a season. Now that they're going to the super bowl, it's the "let's discredit the season"

@RealAlexBarth You have the wrong perspective on this. FSG has made it clear that the @RedSox are no longer viewed as a sports franchise, but an asset in its portfolio. Obviously all owners want a ROI, but FSG is only in this now for profits. If the on field product sucks, oh well.

Would this contract have aged well for the Red Sox? Maybe not. But sometimes making the team better means not winning every element of the deal - especially for a big market team.

So not only have the Red Sox not used the extra money freed up by the Rafael Devers trade to really add to the roster, they can’t even keep his replacement. Just sitting in John Henry’s pocket. The only team in MLB to not sign a Major League free agent to this point.

I feel like the general consensus around baseball is that Chaim Bloom did a good job with Boston because he did exactly what he was brought in to do. But the majority of Red Sox fans will never be able to see it that way.

I’m still not sold that the Red Sox are gonna land another starter soon. Burnes seems like a longshot. The 30-Start Boys look a whole lot better with Crochet ahead of them now. Giolito out to prove himself in a contract year. Wouldn’t be stunned if they wait to get someone else.

@SavageSports_ Henry isn't paying Soto or anyone else. I strongly believe that Devers only got that contract because someone told Henry if they didn't the @RedSox would no longer be an asset in the portfolio.

@ezlazar I wouldn't say it's easier, but a cornerstone at LT outweighs anything we can get at WR. As we've seen in the preseason, it's kinda hard to get anything going on offense when the defense is always in the backfield.

I just think it’s way easier to get a WR via trade/free agency than it is to find a franchise left tackle in veteran market. There are always receivers available.

@SavageSports_ Yes, give him a taste of the big leagues and provide some exposure. If he hits, then we're talking about where does he hit in the lineup next year. If he doesn't, gives something to work on in the off-season.
