But this is an ahistorical statement Before Spain and Portugal conquered Melilla and Ceuta, the Marinid dynasty — capital in Fès — ruled over them. One of the many dynasties that constituted Morocco I don’t understand why you don’t consider previous Moroccan dynasties as “Morocco” but you do consider a previous Spanish dynasty as Spain. But to say that “Morocco didn’t exist before 1956” is historically wrong. The same dynasty that rules Morocco now, ruled Morocco during the French Protectorate, and has been in power since the 1600s.
