India’s govt and corporate international growth problem is plagued with one issue - human capital. India has not increased its IAS/IFS output to keep up with its growth . There are only 350ish IFS handling 57 divisions in Delhi. That is a 5-10X shortage compared to China , US etc in short term India should hire IIT, IIMs for MEA for foreign postings and for long term significantly increase diplomatic capacity . aka you need capable people to run missions abroad and increase over all staffing at command abroad with different skill sets. India also is a strong democracy bcos it has strong bureaucracy that cannot be easily overthrown unlike in Pakistan. It’s good but painful when you want change . It’s the same issue with Indian pharma comps, as they grow into new markets they lack middle management capable to grow into senior roles and lead new markets . Sun, DRL, aurobindo, Natco etc all face this problem. Lot have technical skills not management skills .
