👁️ARTWORK DEEP DIVE👁️ Pollutions is Beautiful I created this artwork early 2021, I think this piece is an work that confronted a sense of intrinsic duality within my own art practice. The journey of this artwork started as a photograph that i had taken of a patch of oil perhaps, diesel, or some kind of motor oil, on water that was on an asphalt paved parking lot. I loved the color patterns that was made visible by the phenomena of thin film interference. swirling spectrum of iridescent colors and the beautifully turbulent way it had spread. I was drawn to it immediately, but i didn't fully understand the reasons perhaps until an year after when i was going though my photo archive and found the image again I opened it in photoshop, mirrored it!. the symmetry instantly kind of opened up a portal, I cranked up the vibrance, did some of my signature step repeat patterning, more color adjustments. and viola this dragonesque multicolored interdimensional thing was staring at me, i would almost here a zzzzzzzzz.... buzzing sound. made something like that with reason studios. put everything in after effects and did a breathing like animation. one stretch of epic creative flow and i was there, the work was complete. and it was beautiful. the title clicked. "pollution is beautiful" How ironic!. the oil slick, pollution that we create somehow drove me to an aesthetic peak!. allowed me to contemplate on the or relationship between beauty and morality or sense of responsibility!
