my first bear market was the dot com bubble in 2000.
i was a junior portfolio manager at a private bank on paradeplatz in zurich.
i felt invincible, deep in internet analysis, and even IPO’ing a side project with friends from berlin on the neuer markt. i had my entire net worth in directional long warrants. over leveraged. i lost everything. my boring friends who just held through it were kings. me, rekt.
in 2008, i was working in investment banking, deep in alternative investments, the youngest member of senior management, and again i felt invincible. i knew the market would crash, but i timed it wrong. the direction was right, but my leveraged shorts got liquidated two months before the crash. i lost it all. my boring friends who sold early were kings. me, rekt.
since then i have one golden rule: never use leverage. i might know where the market is going, but i don’t know the timing, and timing is everything. naked directional leverage is gambling. i still use leverage for hedging, it’s a great tool.

I'm moving on from @StarkWareLtd in a few days to embrace an empty calendar.
It's been a real pleasure to have dedicated the last 2 years to Starknet right from when the ecosystem was nascent to such a mature place it is in now.
Shout out to @AbdelStark and @odin_free who inspired me to leave my VC life behind for the ride of a lifetime.
I remain bullish on Starknet but will be looking exploring my curiosities in the broader Crypto and AI world.

Coins go up, people come to crypto. Coins go down, people leave. As simple as that. Fighting the “wealthy overnight” narrative in crypto isn’t easy. I personally don’t have time to play that game anymore. I invest in the long-term future of blockchain, and Starknet is at the top of my list. Most people still fail to see what’s right in front of them.
