The Most Valuable Baseball Card Ever Made. Reimagined.
In 1909, the American Tobacco Company printed a baseball card of Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop Honus Wagner as part of its T206 series. Wagner objected, and production was halted almost immediately. Fewer than 60 cards are believed to survive today. A single example has sold for $7.25 million.
The T206 Honus Wagner is not just a baseball card. It is the most sought-after collectible in sports history: the card that defined what rarity means.
The man behind the card was just as extraordinary. Nicknamed "The Flying Dutchman," Wagner retired in 1917 having set numerous MLB career records including most hits (3,420), most doubles (640), most triples (252), still a National League record to this day), most stolen bases in the modern era (703), and most runs scored (1,739). Over a century later, he still ranks in the top 10 all-time for hits, doubles, triples, stolen bases, and WAR among all major league players. In 1936, he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame as one of its first five members alongside Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Christy Mathewson, and Walter Johnson.
In partnership with Bridgeman Images, ElmonX has reimagined the iconic T206 portrait across 10 condition grades, each inspired by real surviving examples of the card, from the legendary Gretzky Wagner (the highest graded example in existence, PSA 8) to the countless poor-condition survivors that have changed hands for over a century. The result is two collections:
ElmonX T206 Honus Wagner: 524 digital editions, one for every card in the original T206 set. Each is graded from 1 to 10, reflecting a different stage of the card's century-long survival. Hidden among them are 20 holographic variants, each redeemable for a handcrafted, cased physical card.
ElmonX T206 Honus Wagner: 21 Seasons: 21 editions honouring Wagner's 21-season MLB career. Each pairs a digital twin with a cased physical card, graded across all ten conditions. The twenty-first, randomly placed within the set is a 1/1 silver border, silver Pittsburg with a golden shadow and Wagner, holographic, struck once and never again.
