I lost my mother to cancer.
No words can explain the feeling of grief, sorrow, loss, trauma, and loneliness I feel.
I had been there with her every second of her fight over the past 7 months. Spent every night with her for the 1.5+ months she was hospitalized.
She passed away in my arms. The greatest woman I ever knew, and ever will know.
The woman who sacrificed everything for her children. Who struggled from the bottom and still said Alhamdulillah for everything.
The woman who always had the answers and comfort to give for her kids most trivial problems.
I’m a grown man who thought I had everything in the palm of my hands. I thought of my life as a euphoric high where nothing could go wrong.
Now, I feel like a lost child in a grocery store. Longing for his mother, knowing she will never come back.
I still can’t process that this is real.
I see her contact on my phone, I can’t call her. I can’t bring myself to look at her pictures in my camera roll.
I can now only pray for her, and try my best to be half the person she was.
Cherish every second you have with your parents. Seeing their happiness and making memories with them is worth more than any amount of money in the world.
I miss you, Mama. ❤️
