I still think this is crazy. Minutes after Trump spoke about Maduro, the price of USDT on Venezuela's P2P market immediately jumped 40%+. Not because of the charts, not because of whales, but because people panicked. And honestly… that's very human. If you live in a country where the currency becomes worthless every day, any brief political news can immediately trigger a panic alarm. The reaction is simple: save what you can. And in today's world, that panic button is called stablecoins. The problem here: USDT is supposedly stable. But when it's needed most, it's anything but stable. Why is this? Because the local P2P market is thin. There's little liquidity. The market is fragmented. As soon as everyone runs to the same door, it jams and the price skyrockets. This isn't the people's fault. This isn't "stupid FOMO." This is a system that isn't ready to handle real stress. If stablecoins are only stable during normal times, but fail during a crisis that means we don't really have a hedge; we only have the illusion of comfort. And this should be a wake up call for the crypto industry. Stablecoins should perform best in times of chaos, not the other way around. Small markets and developing countries aren't edge cases, but real battlefields. If they're still easily compromised, how can we talk about global adoption? In my opinion, the discussion of market stability can't stop at 1:1 peg or reserve backing. It asked questions. Fresh wallets. One market. Perfect entry. Clean exit. Then silence.
