Everyone posts their massive wins on here. I’m starting my £100k journey in the red.🩸 Here is the completely transparent truth of how my portfolio actually started: 📉 Saved £33.7k in a Cash ISA (interest rates dropped). 📉 Jan 14: Moved to a Moneybox S&S ISA into the S&P 500. Bad entry, down £400. 📉 Jan 30: Moved the remaining £33.3k to @Trading212 to escape Moneybox fees and get better control. 📉 Feb/March: Invested into T212 Pies and made rookie mistakes right as the Iran conflicts escalated and the market bled. 📊 Current Reality: Realised Loss: -£700 Unrealised Loss: -£1,700 Total Balance: £31,300 Between bad timing, geopolitical news, and the "beginner tax," I'm down £2,400. But the comeback starts here. Strictly buying, holding, and compounding. From today, it's strictly long-term buying, holding, and full transparency. Posting my real PnL every day until I hit £100k. Who is on a similar journey? Let's build. 🧱

£50,000 officially breached in the ISA. 🎯 Whether it stays like that by the time the bell rings is another question entirely. Full daily PNL dropping this evening to see if we held the line.

Some of the monthly figures I see people paying for financed cars actually mind boggling to me, £400/500 a month on some base spec, mercs/bmws etc before insurance, maintenance and fuel. my head would be on Mars man

The S&P 500 is only ~2% off all-time highs. But look under the hood at the Mag 8 drawdowns from their peaks: 🔻 $MSFT: -30% 🔻 $META: -25% 🔻 $AVGO: -25% 🔻 $TSLA: -22% 🔻 $NVDA: -15% 🔻 $GOOGL: -14% 🔻 $AMZN: -12% 🔻 $AAPL: -10% Does blindly buying the ETF still make sense to you? Or is the real opportunity in the individual names right now?

An MBA and a $230k household income, yet they have $136k in credit card debt. Insane. If this was my mess, here is how I would fix it today: • Stop trying to look wealthy. Cut your lifestyle to absolute zero. • Sell the financed cars to clear that $35k instantly. • Park the mortgage and student loans (pay minimums only, if possible). • Attack the $180k of high-interest debt (CCs and personal loans) with every spare penny. Earning $230k means they can easily throw $8k-$10k a month at this if they actually budget. The math is actually highly fixable because of their income. The problem is they have zero discipline. A high salary means nothing if your lifestyle creep eats it all.

“We are $1 million in debt.” This woman and her husband have a total of just under $1,000,000 in debt, here’s the breakdown. - Mortgage $210,000 - Student Loans $335,000 - Credit Cards $136,000 - Personal Loans $44,000 - Car Loans $35,000 She is only 29 years old, and her husband is 32 years old. They both have “advanced degrees”. One in MBA and the other in policy. They both work in the government. Their household income is $230,000. I wouldn’t be able to breathe if I had $136K in credit card debt. This is insane. 😭 I really will never understand how people get themselves in these situations.

My absolute biggest financial regret is simply not investing earlier. Look at what a simple £100 a month into the S&P 500 does over time: 🟢 Year 5: ~£7,700 🟢 Year 10: ~£20,500 The time is going to pass anyway. You can either hit 2036 with twenty grand sitting in an ISA, or exactly zero. Be honest: if you had forced yourself to invest £100 a month exactly 10 years ago today, how much better off would you be right now?

GM ☕️🇬🇧 Banks always seem to drag their heels when you want to move your own money. Has anyone else done a portfolio transfer recently? How long did they make you wait?

I don't know why investing apps constantly spam push notifications reminding people to "max out their £20k ISA allowance!" Do they genuinely think people just forgot they had twenty grand lying around? If the average person had the spare capital, it would already be in the market compounding. A notification isn't going to magically spawn £20k. Ignore the app noise. Keep dripping what you can and build the portfolio at your own pace 🙌.
