I asked @ColsCitySchools if they had any concerns about installing Evolv given our report that noted its limitations to detect certain items. A district official said he didn’t have concerns, and Evolv’s co-founder later told me they have conversations with clients about limits.

A 2021 field test conducted at the Columbus Crew’s lower-dot-com stadium found the Evolv Express flagged 58 percent of the knives that were tested and missed two micro-compact handguns, according to a @10investigates review. Evolv does not dispute the report’s findings.

Evolv agreed to an interview with @10Investigates where they defended their product, adding it’s detected 100k concealed weapons past year. But Evolv has changed its slogan no longer claiming it creates “weapons free zones” instead it says it helps create “safer zones” @10TV

The field test report was never made public (and was first reported by the BBC and IPVM after the latter obtained a copy). Regarding the missed the knives, the testers at @NCS4usm recommended “full transparency to potential customers.”

As part of our reporting, we reviewed months' worth of police runs and body camera videos, which helped confirm what we'd been hearing - that foster children have been sleeping - sometimes living- in offices when placements can't be made. @10TV #10TV @10Investigates

Ohio doesn't closely track how often this happens. Advocates want that to change. @OhioJFS provided @10Investigates with report that estimates last fiscal year approximately 400 children spent at least 1 night in a county offices. Report also notes 34 foster kids spent 6+ nights.
