PSU is never going to schedule a dual with Okie State. U can thank DT for that. He burnt bridges on the way out of HV W/EVERYONE. Business partners (Dake), former teammates, coaches (Cael,Casey), PSU administrators, athletes and others. Plus there is more. Much more.
I think it kind of goes to my point a little… Coleman and clary looked bought in. They played better and improved … both the young bigs improved a ton. Curry was just inconsistent . Before the injury, we got every ounce out of Fallah. Roy was what he was, a streaky scorer who hated to guard off the ball. I would agree that several others didn’t progress. But if I was guessing, I’d bet they front run into the portal
@10Tyner I'm good with giving Lutz more time. But I do believe ANY coach should be able to take ANY group of players and make them better over the course of the season. And I didn't see that happening in Stillwater this year.
Not a hoop expert… but this Pokes season can best be described as “Exponential potential defined by numerous odd stretches of what appears to be ‘disconnected’ team basketball on offense and defense”…… a lot of hero ball moments offensively…. And too many “my bad” defensive moments … really not that far off…. But cohesion is definitely inconsistent
I think “blame the coach” is a little short…. I firmly believe our problems are bi-products of navigating NIL/portal.. Coach Lutz is in the Big 12…. It’s an arms race to acquire talent. He fought to put together a competitive roster. We were “competitive”… absent from the roster was time to develop chemistry and grit. The new era clearly is about finding a very fine, very minute line between talent and development of mindset. I think it takes time, and in this milli-byte world, no one has time.
Give Lutz a chance to retain “guys that fit”, bring in guys he wooed, let it marinate. We will grow….
Just jettisoning a coach fo another coach fixes nothing!!!! Unless you’re bringing in a coach that has access to TBoone’s entire remaining estate.
Lutz is a character guy. We will love rooting for this program once a corner gets turned. It’s just hard to turn that first corner in this age
@10Tyner Nutshell.
And it didn't really seem to improve throughout the course of the year. Which is concerning...not because of players but because of coaching.
Head coach Krista Gerlich on the future of Texas Tech women’s basketball:
“We have to have more resources to be able to fund a team. I have no idea what LSU’s cap is or what their what their total amount is for their team, but ours is probably an eighth of it, if that.”
The transfer portal is a two-edged sword. You can rebuilt your program quickly, but you never know how well your team will mesh from year to year.
Oklahoma State had the talent to make the NCAA Tournament this year, but they never figured out how to play together defensively.
Hopefully we'll have less roster turnover going into year 3 of the Lutz era, and start building a foundation for long term success #GoPokes
Billy Ball & his better teams would wear out these NCAA cats scrambling around today.
These teams are playing a brand of offense founded on ‘Perpetual Panic.’
His good teams were much, much better … on both ends of the floor.
This herky jerky ball is so discombobulated makes you feel like you need to shower after watching the first 20 mins.
@GoPokesU@cowboyattaboy@okstate@OSUMBB Really not frustrated…. More just observational….. our fan base has a certain taste and appreciates a certain way…. Hard to emulate that style in a portal mindset I believe.. winning cures all… just have to catch a run of winning somehow
Sucks that @okstate students can’t show out for their fellow student @OSUMBB athletes. First 500 were free & there isn’t 100 here. Pathetic! #okstate#GoPokes
