My dad called periods disgusting. My little brother shut him down in one sentence. From the other room, my dad yelled, “Stop talking about that disgusting shit. Men don’t need to know women’s business.” Before I could say anything, my little brother looked at him and said, “No wonder mom left you.” Silence. My dad turned around and walked out like he’d just been unplugged. Then my brother looked back at me and went, So… chocolate, right?
