A 3% raise sounds nice… until the grocery bill gets a 12% promotion. That’s why the “annual merit increase” email feels like a participation trophy. Your paycheck went up a little. Yet, Everything you actually need went up more. That’s not progress. Or is it not sure anymore if I understand reality. Maybe that’s because it’s just falling behind with better branding. BLS numbers just confirmed it too real average hourly earnings dropped about 0.7% from May 2025 to May 2026 even while the dollar amount on the stub went higher. You made more, so You could buy less. Doesn’t that make you smile. America First babe we are on are way back! Or are we? The cheerful company wide email with the stock photo of smiling employees never mentions that part. Rent didn’t wait. Groceries didn’t take a year off. Insurance didn’t suddenly decide to be reasonable. Utilities sure as hell didn’t send a thank-you card. So when someone gets 2 – 4% and is expected to act grateful, it lands wrong. A raise is only a raise if it buys you more breathing room. Otherwise it’s just inflation cosplay with direct deposit.

Congress is not serious. We are voting on a stock trading ban for members of Congress… BUT Republicans added voter-ID in the legislation. Not to get Dems to vote for voter-ID, but to get them to vote against the stock trading ban, so they can use it in the Nov. election.
