We were fascinated by how the artists in Material Self chose to represent themselves - for Boriana Kantcheva, roses, birds and collections of small items reveal bits of personal history. (Still Life with Roses and Parrot and Still Life with Blue Vase, both gouache on paper)

For Material Self, 15 artists were asked to create still lifes as self portraits. Mark Zieff saw a backpack at his local Savers and found his own face staring back at him inspiring his Self Portrait, colored pencil on Canson paper. Show ends next Fri 5/8. 13forest.com/material-self

Thank you to R. Galvan and Magda León for their moving performance of Storytime: Practiced Lives last weekend. The performance reflected on how we process the onslaught of negative news regarding immigration, which often inspires anger, fear, and apathy.
