Ariana Grande tells @THR that she’s felt less compelled to defend herself against rumors and misinformation: “It’ll never be unpainful. But also, I walk with the awareness that I’m an artist and this is a path that I’ve chosen, and so I just try to protect myself so that I never start to resent the art.”

I find it quite disrespectful to the authenticity and cultural appropriation of hip-hop how now a day anyone is listed alongside actual hip-hop rappers. Many true rappers have contributed significantly to hip-hop culture, earning their place through both talent and cultural influence, which values historical and cultural roots of hip-hop. By simply having the ability to deliver fast verses does not qualify someone as a rapper in the cultural sense. Many refuse to realize labels sometimes label artists as rappers for marketing purposes. This can inflate an artist's perceived popularity or relevance by associating them with the lucrative hip-hop genre, even if their music or background doesn't authentically connect with hip-hop culture. This can dilute what hip-hop represents to its core audience and artists. I understand there might be a gray area, particularly with international artists who might blend elements of rap with local musical traditions, creating a legitimate but different expression of the genre. However, aligning them universally with hip-hop artists is still seen oversimplifying or misrepresenting the cultural nuances of both the local music and hip-hop. Many artists are properly identified as both rappers and hip-hop artists, But not all ‘rappers’ are hip-hop artists.
