The Shenandoah Valley is in desperate need of rainfall, whereas in #757 we are seeing some dry spots. Good news for all, we are tracking Friday rain. A cold front will bring rain to the western portion of the state and a coastal low will bring rain to the coastline of VA and NC.

Good morning! NC12 remains open and passable, with sand and water on the road around Pea Island Visitor Center. Our crews will be working to replace the sand dune that was lost here today, so there will be brief lane closures and traffic delays as we work. PLEASE DRIVE CAREFULLY.

Hot and humid out there today with heat index values in the triple digits. A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH until 10 pm. Damaging wind gusts and hail will be the greatest threats. I will be here at the station watching radar to make sure everyone has a safe and wonderful weekend :)
